What is the best way to make a reservation at XO Hotels?
The best way is to book directly through the official XO Hotels website, by email, or by phone. This is recommended because it offers the following advantages:
• Minimum 10% discount on the daily rate.
• The most flexible cancellation terms.
• A free late check-out until 12:00 PM.
• Free cot for your baby up to 2 years old.
• Guaranteed lowest rate (it is always lower than through an online travel agent).
• Direct contact with the hotel team in case of questions.
• No booking fees.
What are the payment options and what is the cancellation policy?
• Payment: Payment for your room is requested when making the reservation. You can pay with a credit card, PayPal, or bank card. Cash payments or payments at the front desk are not accepted.
• Cancellation: The policy depends on the rate chosen:
o Standard Rate (with prepayment): Offers the possibility to modify or cancel the reservation up to 14:00 the day before arrival.
o Non-Refundable Rate: Offers the sharpest price, but the payment is final and no refund is possible. Changes or cancellations are not permitted.
Can I book breakfast as well?
Yes, you can certainly book breakfast! There is a Standard and a Non-Refundable rate with breakfast included. It is also possible to add breakfast at the hotel upon arrival or during your stay.
Can I reserve early check-in or late check-out in advance?
Early check-in is based on availability when you arrive at the hotel and costs 5 Euros extra per hour. Late check-out can be reserved in advance via our booking site.
Booking directly on xohotels.com guarantees you get the absolute best deal available online. You automatically receive a 10% discount off every room rate, guaranteed direct contact with our front desk team, flexible cancellation terms, and exclusive perks like a free late check-out (up to 12:00 PM) that third-party platforms do not offer.
“Third-party sites claim to have the lowest price and easiest booking process—am I actually saving money and getting better treatment by booking direct with XO Hotels?”
We understand why travelers rely on sites like Booking.com or Expedia—they make it feel safer and cheaper to book in one place. However, third-party platforms charge substantial middleman commissions, which limits flexibility and inflates rates.
When you book directly with XO Hotels:
You get a genuine price advantage: We pass our middleman savings directly to you with a guaranteed 10% discount compared to any third-party rate.
No hidden fees or surprise booking charges at checkout.
You are prioritized for room requests and upgrades:
Third-party bookings are processed through external algorithms, but direct bookers deal directly with our local front desk.
That means instant confirmation, better room placement, and effortless modifications without waiting on hold with third-party customer service line agents.
You get extra perks included:
Direct bookings automatically unlock benefits third-party bookers don't get—such as an extra hour of free late check-out until 12:00 PM and direct access to specialized room types and packages.
“What happens if I find a cheaper rate on Booking.com or another platform after I book?”
You won't have to worry! We maintain a strict Best Price Guarantee on xohotels.com. Because we apply a minimum 10% discount to all our direct rates, our official website is designed to be the cheapest price point on the internet. If you ever spot a lower public rate elsewhere for the same date and room type before booking, contact us directly and we will check it!
“Is it harder to cancel or change my stay if I book directly with the hotel instead of an app like Booking.com?”
No—in fact, it's significantly easier! When you book through a third-party, any change or cancellation must go through their customer support, which often involves strict third-party policies and delays. When you select a flexible rate directly on our website, you can modify or cancel your booking hassle-free directly through us up until 2:00 PM the day prior to arrival. One quick message or call to our team handles it immediately.
For Loyalty Program / Genius-Level Members“I have 'Genius' or VIP status on third-party sites—why should I give up my points to book directly with XO Hotels?”
While third-party status programs promise perks, booking directly with XO Hotels gives you higher-value benefits on your specific stay without jumping through hoops. Our instant 10% direct booking discount beats most third-party loyalty rates outright. Combined with guaranteed late check-out (12:00 PM) and direct priority support from our reception team, you receive more tangible, immediate savings and comfort during your trip to Amsterdam.
Yes, you can transfer your reservation to another person prior to check-in. To complete the transfer, the primary guest name on the booking must be updated so it matches the ID of the person arriving. Just contact our reservations team via email with your booking reference number and the new guest’s full name.
“I bought a Non-Refundable Rate (or my travel plans fell through), but I can't get a refund. Can I hand off or sell my room to a friend/stranger, or will XO Hotels cancel the booking and keep the money?”
We understand how frustrating it is when travel plans change unexpectedly and you face losing the full cost of a non-refundable booking. We don't want your paid room to go to waste.
While Non-Refundable Rates cannot be cancelled for a cash refund, you are allowed to transfer the entire booking to a friend, family member, or colleague. XO Hotels will not cancel or penalize your booking for transferring it, provided you notify us in advance.
To ensure the new guest is not turned away at check-in due to name mismatching, you must update the lead guest's full legal name on the booking prior to their arrival. Once updated, the new guest can check in seamlessly with their own photo ID, using the prepayment already made on your reservation.
“I booked directly on your website. Is there a fee or deadine to transfer my booking to another guest?”
There are zero transfer fees or administrative charges. You can request a name change up until the day of arrival by emailing or messaging our reservations team with your booking reference and the new guest's full legal name.
“I booked through Booking.com or Expedia and can no longer travel. Can XO Hotels change the guest name on my behalf?”
Answer: Yes, it works the same as with a direct booking in this case, just mail us the reservation number and the new details of the guest staying with us.
Yes, you can shorten your stay after checking in by notifying the front desk. However, please note that no refunds are provided for unused nights, regardless of whether you booked a Standard Rate or a Non-Refundable Rate. Additionally, pre-booked services such as breakfast, parking, or late check-out are non-refundable once your stay has commenced.
We strongly recommend all guests purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover unexpected early departures.
“If a personal emergency forces me to check out early, will I lose the money I paid for my remaining nights and pre-booked services like breakfast or parking?”
We understand that unexpected emergencies or sudden schedule changes can interrupt your trip, and having to leave early is already stressful.
Because your room and add-on services (such as parking spots or breakfast allocations) are part of your contract with us, XO Hotels does not offer refunds or credits for unused nights or pre-booked services if you decide to leave early.
To protect yourself against financial losses due to unforeseen circumstances, we strongly advise taking out travel insurance prior to your trip. If you must leave early, our front desk team can issue an official statement confirming your early check-out date, which you can submit to your insurance provider to claim reimbursement.
“My work schedule changed and I need to check out two days early. Can I at least get a refund for my pre-paid breakfast or parking?”
Pre-booked services such as daily breakfast, parking passes, or room add-ons are non-refundable once checked in. If your schedule is highly variable, we recommend booking add-on services on a day-by-day basis at the hotel rather than prepaying for the full duration.
“If I have to leave early due to illness or an emergency, how can XO Hotels help me claim the unused days through my travel insurance?”
Simply inform the front desk before you depart. We will issue an official written confirmation of your early departure along with a copy of your full payment invoice, giving you all the necessary documentation to lodge a claim with your travel insurance company.
If you arrive a day late, you must notify the hotel in advance via email or phone. If you do not inform us, your reservation will be marked as a "No-Show," and the remaining nights of your stay will automatically be cancelled and released after 11 am to other guests. As long as you notify us before your original scheduled arrival time, we will hold your room for your new arrival date. However, unused nights are non-refundable regardless of rate type.
“If my flight is delayed by 24 hours or my travel plan shifts, will XO Hotels keep my money AND sell my room to someone else?”
We understand that travel delays are unpredictable and stressful. We want to protect your accommodation, but hotel management systems are automated to treat unannounced late arrivals as "No-Shows."
If you do not show up on your original arrival date without telling us, the system automatically cancels the remainder of your reservation at 11 am to avoid holding empty rooms indefinitely.
To safeguard your room: simply send us a quick message or call before your scheduled check-in time. Once you let us know you are delayed, we guarantee your room will be locked and waiting for you when you arrive the next day. Please note that because the room was reserved for you on the first night, that night remains chargeable and non-refundable.
“My international flight was delayed by a full day. How quickly do I need to notify XO Hotels so my room isn't given away?”
You should notify us as soon as you know your flight details have changed, on your original check-in day. A quick email with your booking reference and estimated new arrival time ensures your reservation remains active.
“I booked through Booking.com or Expedia and missed my first night. Who do I contact to save the rest of my booking?”
Contact XO Hotels directly via email or phone as soon as possible so our front desk team can manually freeze your reservation. Notifying the OTA alone might take time to process, so direct contact with the hotel ensures immediate protection of your remaining nights.
Please note that for situations like this, XO Hotels strongly recommends to take a travel insurance.
Yes, you can change the primary guest name on your reservation prior to check-in. If you booked directly through our website (xohotels.com), you can contact our reservations team via email with your booking reference number and the updated guest details. If you booked through a third-party website (such as Booking.com or Expedia), it works the same. Just mail us.
Name changes are free of charge, and the new guest must present a valid passport or government-issued photo ID upon check-in.
“I booked a room for someone else (or my friend is taking my place), but the reservation is in my name. Will they be turned away at check-in or charged extra fees?”
We know how stressful it can be to worry about a friend, family member, or colleague getting turned away at the front desk after a long journey. Because we strictly follow Dutch security regulations and operate a seamless check-in process, the name on the booking must match the photo ID presented at the hotel.
As long as you update the name with us before arrival, there are zero administrative penalties or extra charges for a name change. If you booked directly, simply email us your reservation number and the full legal name of the arriving guest so we can update our system. Once updated, your guest can check in smoothly without any issues or double-charging concerns.
“I booked a room under my name/company name, but a colleague will be staying. How do I transfer the check-in authorization to them?”
Simply email our reservations desk before the stay date with the guest’s full legal name and your reservation reference. We will update the lead guest profile while keeping the billing details intact, ensuring your colleague can check in effortlessly.
“I booked through Booking.com or Expedia as a gift for someone else. Can XO Hotels change the name for me?”
Answer: Yes, of course! Just mail us in advance with the reservation number and the new name(s).
No, XO Hotels does not accept third-party deal vouchers, experience boxes, or discount coupons (such as Groupon, Social Deal, Bongo, Wonderbox, Smartbox, Weekendesk, or Wowcher) as payment for room reservations or on-site services. All bookings must be made directly through our website (xohotels.com) or via authorized online travel agencies (OTAs) using direct payment methods (credit card, debit card, PayPal, iDeal, etc.). Only official gift vouchers issued directly by XO Hotels can be redeemed toward your stay. There are voucher companies working together with online travel agencies, and in that case, the reservation can be made on a voucher platform only.
“I bought a third-party gift box or travel voucher expecting to use it in Amsterdam. Why don't you accept these vouchers, and am I missing out on a deal by booking directly with XO Hotels?”
We understand it can be frustrating if you hold a gift voucher or deal code and find out it cannot be redeemed at our hotels. XO Hotels chooses not to partner with external voucher portals or deal sites so that we can maintain complete transparency over our room availability, rates, and guest experience. Third-party vouchers often come with strict fine print, blackout dates, hidden surcharges, or complicated redemption steps.
By bypassing third-party deal brokers, we guarantee that you get our best possible rates and live availability directly on xohotels.com. When you book directly with us, you enjoy instant booking confirmation, flexible modification terms on standard rates, and no middleman administrative hassle.
“I received a generic hotel gift card or experience box for my birthday/holiday. Can I use it at XO Hotels?”
Answer: External voucher boxes (such as Bongo, Wonderbox, or Smartbox) cannot be redeemed at XO Hotels directly. We only accept official XO Hotels gift cards/vouchers purchased directly through our website or front desk. If you have a general multi-brand voucher, you may need to redeem it through the issuing provider's portal or use standard payment methods to book with us.
“If you don't feature on discount sites like Groupon or Social Deal, how do I know I'm getting the lowest possible price?”
We offer a Direct Booking Guarantee. You will always find our lowest rate online at xohotels.com—lower than any third-party travel portal. Booking directly also gives you direct access to special package add-ons and our standard free cancellation window (up to 2:00 PM the day before arrival).
The main difference is flexibility versus price.
Standard Rate: Offers maximum flexibility. You pay online at the time of booking, but you can cancel or modify your reservation free of charge up to 2:00 PM (14:00) the day before your arrival date. If you cancel in time, your payment is fully refunded.
Non-Refundable Rate: Offers the lowest guaranteed price for your stay at the moment of booking. However, this rate cannot be modified, cancelled, or refunded after booking. If your plans change or you do not show up, no refund is provided.
Both rate types include the exact same room, amenities, and free Wi-Fi; only the cancellation and payment terms differ.
“Why should I pay extra for a Standard Rate if I’m already required to prepay online, and is the discount on a Non-Refundable Rate worth risking my money if my trip gets cancelled?”
We understand why paying upfront for a "flexible" rate might feel confusing. At XO Hotels, all reservations are processed through our 100% cashless system at booking to guarantee a seamless check-in and prevent unexpected fees at the desk.
Prepaying on a Standard Rate does not lock your money away—it simply secures your room while leaving you fully protected. If illness, flight cancellations, or emergency schedule changes occur, you can cancel up to 2:00 PM the day before arrival for a prompt 100% refund to your original payment method.
The Non-Refundable Rate is designed for travelers with 100% fixed dates who prefer immediate savings over flexibility. In exchange for committing to your dates, you get our lowest possible price. If there is any chance your plans might shift, we always recommend choosing the Standard Rate for complete peace of mind.
“I am booking months in advance and my airline might change my flight times. Which rate should I choose?”
We strongly advise choosing the Standard Rate. It allows you to adjust your check-in dates or cancel for a full refund up to 2:00 PM the day before arrival, ensuring you aren't penalized if your flight is rescheduled or cancelled.
“I am traveling tomorrow and my schedule is completely set. Is there any downside to choosing the Non-Refundable Rate?”
None at all! If your arrival date is firm and immediate, the Non-Refundable Rate is the smartest choice, letting you lock in the best available price for the exact same room and amenities.
In all cases, we always strongly recommend to take out a travel insurance.
Whether you can modify your reservation depends on the rate type you selected and how you booked:
Standard Rate (Direct Booking via xohotels.com): You can modify your travel dates or room type up to 2:00 PM (14:00) the day before your arrival date, if we have the availability. If there is a price difference for new dates, you will simply pay or be refunded the difference.
Standard Rate (Third-Party Agent like Booking.com / Expedia etc): You can request modifications, but they must be submitted directly through your booking account on that third-party platform according to their terms.
Non-Refundable Rate: Dates, room types, and core reservation details cannot be modified or changed after booking. If you want to add persons or nights to your booking, please call or mail us to see what is possible.
“I made a mistake with my travel dates (or my flights shifted). Will XO Hotels charge me heavy change fees or force me to rebook at a much higher price if I need to adjust my stay?”
We know how stressful it is when travel itineraries change unexpectedly, and nobody wants to feel penalised for an honest mistake or flight reschedule.
We do not charge artificial administration fees to modify a booking. If you booked our Standard Rate directly with us, you have complete flexibility to alter your stay up until 2:00 PM the day before arrival. You only cover the live rate difference if your new dates fall on a higher-priced day.
If you chose a Non-Refundable Rate, the price was heavily discounted in exchange for locking in fixed dates, meaning date changes cannot be processed. However, if you simply need to change the guest name (for instance, if a friend is taking your place), we will gladly update the name for you free of charge so your booking is not wasted.
“I booked directly on your website and need to shift my dates by one day. What is the fastest way to request this change?”
Answer: Simply email or message our reservations team with your booking reference and preferred new dates. As long as it is before 2:00 PM the day before arrival and you booked a standard rate, our team will adjust your dates directly based on live room availability with zero middleman delays.
“I booked a flexible rate on Booking.com. Why do I have to change my dates through them instead of calling XO Hotels directly?”
Because your payment and reservation contract were processed through the online agent, our hotel system is locked from making direct financial or date changes to their file. Log into your account on their app or website and select "Modify Reservation"—the platform will automatically notify our system once approved.
Of course! You can call us 24 hours a day at: +31 20 5800365
At XO Hotels, payment is required online at the time you make your reservation. We do not accept cash or on-site front desk payments upon arrival. You can pay securely during booking using a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), PayPal, or debit card (Wero, Vpay, Maestro, etc.). Local taxes (such as city tax) are fully included in your payment upfront, so you will not face unexpected charges at check-in or need to present a physical credit card when you arrive.
“You require 100% prepayment online and don’t accept cash or payment at check-in. Is my money safe if my plans change, or am I locked into a non-refundable trap?”
We understand that paying upfront requires trust, especially when travel plans can be unpredictable. XO Hotels requires full advance payment through our 100% cashless system to ensure a frictionless, secure check-in experience and to protect you from unexpected fees upon arrival.
Prepaying does not mean losing your flexibility—your protection depends entirely on the rate type you choose:
Standard Rate (Direct Booking): Even though you pay at the time of booking, you remain protected. You can modify or cancel your reservation free of charge up to 2:00 PM (14:00) the day before your arrival date. If you cancel within this window, your payment will be refunded directly to your original payment method.
Non-Refundable Rate: Designed for travelers seeking our lowest rate. This option offers a significant discount in exchange for guaranteed commitment—it cannot be modified or refunded once booked.
Every transaction is processed through end-to-end encrypted payment links, guaranteeing your financial data remains completely secure.
For Business Travelers & Corporate Bookers:
“I am paying upfront on behalf of my company or a third party. How do I obtain an official VAT invoice, and how can I ensure the guest isn't asked to pay again at check-in?”
When you book directly with XO Hotels, your payment covers the total cost of the stay, including room rates and city taxes. The guest will not be asked for a payment card at check-in. If you need an official invoice issued in your company’s name, simply provide us with your company’s full legal name and billing address prior to check-out, and we will issue an official tax invoice post-departure.
“If I choose the Standard Rate and need to cancel before the deadline, how quickly do I get my money back?”
As long as you cancel prior to 2:00 PM the day before arrival, your full refund is initiated automatically to the original payment source (credit card, PayPal, or bank account). Standard banking processing times apply (typically 3 to 5 business days depending on your financial institution), with zero hidden administration or cancellation penalties.
Your room rate at XO Hotels includes your accommodation, fast Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, in-room coffee and tea facilities, private bathroom amenities, daily housekeeping (no linnen change), and 21% Dutch VAT (BTW). The Amsterdam city tax is also included, so you won't encounter unexpected fees upon arrival. Breakfast is not automatically included in the base rate, but it can be easily added when booking online or at the hotel.
“Hotels often advertise low prices and then add hidden tourist taxes or resort fees at check-in. Will I be surprised by extra charges when I arrive at XO Hotels?”
We believe in full transparency—nobody likes unexpected bills at the front desk after a long journey. The price you see at checkout on xohotels.com is the total amount you pay.
Unlike many other hotels that charge city taxes separately upon arrival, XO Hotels calculates and includes the mandatory city tax upfront during your online booking. Your rate fully covers your room, taxes, high-speed Wi-Fi, and in-room amenities. Optional services (such as our buffet breakfast, late check-out, or bike rentals) are clearly clearly separated, giving you full control over your budget with zero hidden surprises.
For Breakfast Enthusiasts & Morning Travelers:
“Is breakfast included in my room rate, or do I have to pay extra for it?”
Breakfast is not included in the standard base room rate. You can choose a rate that includes our fresh continental buffet breakfast during your online reservation, or you can add it on a day-by-day basis when you are at the hotel for flexibility.
“Are high-speed Wi-Fi and air conditioning included in the rate, or are there premium access charges?”
Fast, high-speed Wi-Fi is completely free and included in every room rate, with no speed throttling or paid premium tiers. Individual climate control (heating and air conditioning) is also fully included in your room price for your complete comfort.
No, XO Hotels operates as a 100% cashless and prepaid hotel group, which means all reservations require full online payment at the time of booking. We do not offer options to reserve a room without payment or to pay upon arrival at the front desk. You can complete your advance payment securely online using a credit card (Visa, MasterCard), PayPal, or debit card (Wero, Vpay, Maestro, etc.). Local taxes (including Amsterdam city tax) are included in your upfront payment.
“You force me to pay 100% upfront before I even step foot in the hotel. Does this mean I lose all my flexibility if my plans change, or is my money completely safe?”
We understand that paying in advance requires trust, and nobody wants their money locked away in case travel plans fall through. XO Hotels requires full prepayment across all bookings to ensure a fast, contactless check-in experience and to guarantee that you will never be faced with surprise bills at the front desk.
Prepaying does not mean sacrificing flexibility or risking your money. If you want peace of mind, simply choose our Standard Rate. Although it is paid upfront, it remains fully flexible:
You can modify or cancel your booking free of charge up to 2:00 PM (14:00) the day before your arrival date.
If you cancel within this window, your payment will be refunded 100% back to your original payment method with zero hidden cancellation or administration fees.
If your dates are 100% fixed and you prefer immediate savings over flexibility, you can select our Non-Refundable Rate for the lowest price.
“I don't have a major credit card. Can I still book a room in advance without paying at the hotel?”
Yes! Unlike traditional hotels that require a major credit card to hold a reservation, our online system supports a wide range of local payment methods, including debit cards, Wero, PayPal, Vpay, Maestro. You can fully secure your room instantly using whatever payment method suits you best.
“Can I walk into the hotel reception and pay cash or card for a room on the spot?”
XO Hotels does not keep cash on the premises and all bookings must be processed online prior to check-in. If you arrive as a walk-in guest, our team will guide you through completing a quick, secure online booking on your phone or terminal before issuing your keycard.
No, XO Hotels does not sell or provide travel or cancellation insurance policies directly. We strongly recommend that all guests purchase independent travel insurance through a licensed insurance provider or credit card company prior to their trip. To protect yourself against unexpected cancellations, you can choose our Standard Rate, which allows free modification or cancellation up to 2:00 PM (14:00) the day before your arrival.
“If XO Hotels doesn't offer travel insurance, am I completely unprotected if medical emergencies, flight delays, or personal crises force me to cancel a Non-Refundable stay?”
We understand how frustrating it is to lose money on a booking due to circumstances outside your control. Because XO Hotels is an accommodation provider rather than an insurance broker, we do not issue insurance policies directly.
However, we offer clear options to safeguard your trip:
Booking Flexibility: By selecting our Standard Rate, you retain the freedom to cancel or modify your stay free of charge up to 2:00 PM the day before check-in.
Insurance Claim Documentation: If you book a Non-Refundable Rate and are forced to cancel due to an emergency, our team will gladly provide you with an official cancellation invoice and proof of non-refundability so you can easily claim 100% reimbursement through your personal travel insurance or credit card coverage.
“If my flight is cancelled or delayed, will my third-party travel insurance cover my hotel costs at XO Hotels?”
Most comprehensive travel insurance policies cover non-refundable hotel stays resulting from flight disruptions or medical emergencies. If your flight is delayed or cancelled, simply notify us immediately so we can provide the formal documentation required by your insurer.
“Should I pay extra for travel insurance or just book the XO Hotels Standard Rate?”
If you only want flexibility regarding changing dates or short-notice cancellations, our direct Standard Rate is usually the simplest solution, as it allows free cancellation up to 2:00 PM the day before arrival. For broader coverage (such as lost luggage, medical emergencies, or flight interruptions), independent travel insurance provides the most comprehensive protection.
There is a 10% discount on the daily price for all direct bookings made via our own booking site, via email and via phone. The discount is already calculated in our offer.
The price is always lower when you book directly with the hotel, than when you book through an online agent/booking website.
The ability to change or cancel a hotel reservation, and the associated fees, depends entirely on two critical factors: How you made the booking and which rate you selected.
You can always find the definitive rules applicable to your stay on the booking website (before you confirm) or on your official booking confirmation.
1. Direct Booking, Standard Rate
• Method: Booked directly with XO Hotels via our official website, e-mail, or telephone.
• Flexibility: This method typically offers the best and most flexible cancellation policy.
• Why? XO Hotels encourages direct bookings and reward guests with superior terms.
• Policy: Free cancellation deadline of 2:00 PM the day before arrival
2. Online Agent Booking (Standard Rate)
• Method: Booked via a third-party Online Travel Agent (OTA) or booking website (e.g., Booking.com, Expedia).
• Flexibility: The cancellation policy for a standard rate booked through an OTA is usually less flexible than a direct booking.
• Why? While a third party may offer competitive prices, their cancellation terms are stricter, sometimes requiring 48 or 72 hours notice, or involving a different process for changes. You must adhere to the OTA's specific terms, an hotel has no influence.
3. Non-Refundable Reservations
• Method: Booked either directly or via an online agent, specifically choosing a rate labeled as "Non-Refundable," "Advance Purchase," or similar.
• Flexibility: These reservations cannot be changed or cancelled.
• Why? These rates are offered at a discounted price in exchange for the guarantee that the hotel receives the revenue regardless of whether the guest arrives. By accepting the lower price, the guest agrees to waive all flexibility.
Minimum Age Requirement Policy
At least one guest per room must be 18 years or older on the day of arrival.
This policy is not intended to be strict, but rather to ensure safety and responsibility during your stay. Are you under 18 and traveling without an adult? Unfortunately, we will not be able to check you in — and of course, we prefer to prevent this situation rather than resolving it at the front desk.
Does this mean that as a 17-year-old, I cannot stay at all, even if I am responsible? And how strictly is this checked? That is correct. We will not be able to accommodate you.
Are you traveling with a minor? No worries: As long as there is one adult supervisor per room, everything is perfectly fine, and you can check in without any problems.
Are you traveling as a family with children? This is also allowed, it's wonderful! Tip: We have rooms available for 4 people.
Whether you need an adapter depends on where you are coming from.
In the Netherlands, the standard voltage is 230 V, the frequency is 50 Hz, and the power sockets use Plug Types C and F.
1. The Plug Shape (Types C & F)
Type C: Features two round parallel pins.
Type F: Features two round parallel pins with two ground clips on the top and bottom sides.
If you are coming from North America, the UK, Australia, or Asia: You will need a plug adapter to physically fit your devices into Dutch wall outlets.
If you are coming from most of Continental Europe: You do not need a plug adapter; your devices will plug right in.
2. Voltage Compatibility (230 V)
Check the small text on your device's charger or power brick (under "Input"):
Dual Voltage (100–240 V, 50/60 Hz): Most modern electronics—including smartphones, laptops, cameras, and tablets—support dual voltage. These only require a plug adapter to fit the wall shape.
Single Voltage (110 V or 120 V): Common for high-power heating appliances from North America, such as hair dryers, straighteners, and electric shavers. These will short-circuit or burn out without a voltage converter or step-down transformer. It is usually safer and easier to leave single-voltage appliances at home or use dual-voltage/hotel alternatives.
Group Bookings Policy (6 Rooms or More)
For groups of six rooms or more, we always create a custom quote.
No standard prices, but a proposal tailored to your travel dates, group size, and wishes. This often means a sharper price and more flexibility than groups booked through third parties.
In addition, we assist with practical matters such as:
rooms close together
suitability for families or teams
planning of arrival and departure
any special requests
All you need to do is send an email to email with your travel dates and number of rooms.
Our specialized team will then create a clear, customized proposal — so you know exactly what to expect and the entire group can book without stress.
Our hotels do not accept student or youth groups.
If you have not received your booking confirmation email within 15 minutes of completing your reservation, please check your spam, junk, or promotional email folders first. If it is not there, it is usually due to a typo in the email address entered during checkout.
Contact our reservations team directly via email or WhatsApp with your full name, check-in date, and the payment method used, and we will verify your booking and resend your confirmation immediately.
Or a delayed confirmation from an online travel agency (such as Booking.com or Expedia). In that case, please contact the site where you booked is the only thing we can advise you to do.
“I was charged for my booking online, but I haven't received a confirmation email. Was my money taken without securing my room, or did my booking fail?”
We understand how alarming it is to see a charge on your account without receiving an immediate booking confirmation. Rest assured, if your payment was successfully processed, your reservation details are stored securely in our system.
Most missing confirmation emails happen due to a small typo in the email address provided at checkout, or because strict email filters automatically moved the confirmation message into your spam folder. Your money is completely safe and your room remains secured.
To get immediate peace of mind, simply message our reservations team with the primary guest’s full legal name, your check-in date, and the email address you intended to use. We will quickly locate your file, correct any email typos, and resend your official confirmation directly to you.
“I paid directly on xohotels.com but didn't get an email. How quickly can your team verify my reservation?”
Answer: Direct bookings are created instantly in our hotel database. If you contact us via email or phone with your payment details and full name, our desk team can verify your reservation and resend your confirmation within minutes during operational hours.
“I booked through Booking.com or Expedia and haven't received my confirmation. Should I contact XO Hotels or the booking site?”
Third-party platforms issue their own confirmation emails directly. First, log into your account on that platform to check your booking status under "My Bookings." If the reservation shows as confirmed there but you haven't received an email, you need to contact them immediately to let them verify what happened. We can not assist you.
Whether you can add an extra person depends on your current room type and maximum room occupancy fire-safety limits. XO Hotels cannot place rollaway beds or extra beds into existing rooms due to strict space and safety regulations. If you booked a Single or Double room and wish to bring an additional guest, you will need to upgrade to a larger room category—such as a Triple or Quadruple room—or book an additional room, subject to current availability.
Please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email to discuss the possibilities, check available room upgrades, and update your booking details smoothly.
“Can I just show up at check-in with an extra guest and pay a fee at the front desk, or will we be turned away?”
We strongly advise against arriving at the hotel with extra guests without modifying your reservation in advance! For safety regulations, city licensing, and guest comfort, our room capacities are strictly enforced, and extra beds cannot be added into standard rooms.
If your group exceeds the maximum capacity of your booked room and no larger rooms or additional rooms are available upon your arrival, we will unfortunately not be able to accommodate the extra guest. To avoid stress, unexpected costs, or being turned away at check-in, please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email before your arrival date to discuss the possibilities and secure an upgraded room or an additional booking.
“We booked a Double room—can we add a baby or toddler without upgrading to a Triple room?”
Yes! One child up to 2 years old can stay in your room free of charge using a baby cot/crib (subject to room size and availability). If you booked directly through our website, the baby cot is provided free of charge; for third-party bookings, a small fee of €10 per stay applies. Because space for cots is limited in certain room categories, please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email to request a cot and discuss the possibilities before you arrive.
“My teenager or friend decided to join our trip last minute. Can we fit a third person into our Twin/Double room?”
Children aged 3 and older as well as adult guests require their own designated bed, and we cannot add extra beds into standard rooms. To accommodate your extra traveler, your reservation will need to be changed to a Triple room, Quadruple room, or a second separate room. Please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email as soon as possible to discuss the possibilities and upgrade options before the hotel is fully booked.
Whether you can change your arrival date depends entirely on the rate type you selected during booking:
Standard Rate (Flexible): If you booked a Standard Rate, you can change your dates or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours prior to your check-in date (3:00 PM local time). (when booked direct, please check your confirmation for the exact time and date)
Non-Refundable Rate: If you booked a Non-Refundable Rate, modifications or date changes are not permitted, as this discounted rate is strictly locked to your selected dates.
If you made an accidental mistake or need to adjust your itinerary, please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email to discuss the possibilities, review your rate terms, and check alternative date availability.
“I accidentally picked the wrong month or dates while booking a Non-Refundable rate. Am I completely stuck losing my money, or can XO Hotels fix my human error?”
We understand how frustrating it is to click the wrong box on a calendar—especially when booking a Non-Refundable rate where rules are strict!
Because Non-Refundable bookings are processed at discounted rates with immediate payment guarantees, changes are legally non-standard.
If you notice a booking mistake, do not wait! Please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email as soon as possible to discuss the possibilities. If you booked directly with our hotels, we offer a 30 minute grace period.
“I booked the wrong date on your official website. Is it easier to change my reservation than through an agency?”
Yes! When you book directly on xohotels.com, our reservations team has direct access to your booking file. While date modifications still depend on whether you selected a Standard or Non-Refundable rate, managing your reservation directly eliminates third-party middleman delays. Please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email with your direct confirmation number and intended dates so our team can discuss the possibilities with you right away.
“My flight got delayed or rescheduled, and I need to push my check-in by one day. What should I do?”
If travel disruption causes you to miss your arrival date, please inform us immediately! If you do not notify the hotel and fail to check in on your scheduled arrival day, your reservation may be marked as a "No-Show," and the remaining nights could be automatically canceled. Whether your rate is Standard or Non-Refundable, please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email as soon as your travel plans change so we can hold your room or discuss the possibilities for shifting your stay.
Whether you can switch to a different room type depends on two factors: whether you booked a Standard or Non-Refundable rate, and the current availability of your requested room type.
Standard Rate (Flexible): You can easily request a room change or upgrade before arrival, subject to room availability and paying any applicable price difference between room categories.
Non-Refundable Rate: Room changes are generally restricted under non-refundable terms. However, if you wish to upgrade to a higher, more expensive room category (e.g., from a Standard Double to a Triple Room), we will do our best to accommodate your request depending on hotel availability.
Please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email to discuss the possibilities, check alternative room options, and receive an updated quote.
“I accidentally booked a room that’s too small, or without the amenities I expected. Will I be forced to stay in it or lose my money if I want to switch?”
We know that photos and room descriptions can sometimes be misread during booking, leaving guests worried about getting stuck in a room that doesn't fit their needs—such as realizing you selected a single bed instead of a double, or a twin setup instead of a king bed.
You won't be trapped in an unsuitable room if a better option is open! While switching room types fully depends on whether you booked a Standard or Non-Refundable rate and current room availability, our team always strives to make your stay comfortable. If an upgrade is available, you will simply pay the difference in daily room rates.
To avoid waiting until check-in when options may be fully booked, please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email as early as possible to discuss the possibilities and lock in the correct room layout.
“I booked a standard room, but I have mobility restrictions or heavy luggage. Can I switch to a triple room with more space?”
If you have special needs or specific floor preferences, please reach out to us right away! While changing room categories depends on rate terms and availability, we prioritize guest accessibility and comfort whenever possible. Because big rooms and lift/elevator configurations vary across our properties, please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email to discuss the possibilities so we can place you in the best room for your physical requirements.
“I booked a Twin room by mistake, but my partner and I need a Double bed (or vice versa). Can you swap our bed setup?”
In many of our room categories, bed configurations (Single, Twin, or Double) are tied to specific room types and inventory. Whether we can swap your room setup depends on whether you booked a Standard or Non-Refundable rate and room availability on your travel dates. Please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email with your preference so our team can check availability and discuss the possibilities to ensure you get your preferred sleeping arrangement.
Whether you can transfer your booking from one XO Hotel property to another depends fully on whether you booked a Standard or Non-Refundable rate, as well as the room availability at the target hotel location.
If available, we are happy to assist you.
Please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email to discuss the possibilities, review your booking terms, and check room availability at your preferred location.
“I accidentally selected the wrong XO Hotel in Amsterdam. Will XO Hotels let me transfer my booking, or will I be forced to pay twice?”
With multiple XO Hotels across Amsterdam, selecting the wrong property during online booking happens more often than you think! We understand the worry of feeling stuck in the wrong neighborhood or facing duplicate charges.
Because each hotel location manages its own independent room availability and financials, bookings cannot simply be swapped with a single click. Whether a transfer can be processed depends entirely on the current room availability at the desired hotel.
Do not create a second booking right away! Please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email as soon as you notice the error to explain your situation and discuss the possibilities before your arrival date.
“I realized my booked XO Hotel is not near the concert or museum venue I am visiting. Can I switch to an XO Hotel closer to my itinerary?”
We want your stay to be as convenient as possible! Switching properties depends fully room availability at the XO Hotel closer to your destination. Please contact the hotel where you booked directly via email to discuss the possibilities and check whether an exceptional transfer or arrangement can be accommodated.
“I booked the wrong XO Hotel property through an online travel agent (OTA). Can XO Hotels transfer my booking to the right hotel for me?”
If your reservation was made through a third-party booking channel, XO Hotels is able to assist you further. We recommend contacting the hotel where you booked directly via email to discuss the possibilities first.
Policy for Traveling with Young Children
We want to make traveling with young children as simple as possible:
Infants up to 2 years old stay free of charge in the parents' room.
We can provide a baby cot upon request.
The cot is provided free of charge when you book directly with XO Hotels and costs €10 per stay when you book through an OTA (such as Booking.com).
A cot needs to be reserved at least 2 days prior to arrival and is subject to availability.
From the age of 3, every child requires their own bed, simply because we want to ensure everyone sleeps comfortably and safely. The standard room rate applies for this.
We implement this policy not to be strict, but to prevent children from having to sleep uncomfortably or families facing unexpected costs. This way, you know exactly what to expect and can start your stay relaxed.
No, according to our XO Hotels terms and conditions, early departure does not entitle you to a refund for any remaining nights. Once you have checked in, your reservation is considered active, and no refunds or credits will be issued for unused nights, regardless of whether you booked a Standard Rate or a Non-Refundable Rate. Pre-booked additional services (such as breakfast, parking, or late check-out) are also completely non-refundable once checked in. We strongly advise all guests to take out independent travel insurance to cover unexpected early departures.
“If a personal emergency or sudden change of plans forces me to check out early, will XO Hotels keep all my money for the nights and add-ons I didn't get to use?”
We understand that having to end a trip unexpectedly is frustrating and often stressful. We aim to be completely transparent about why refunds cannot be processed mid-stay.
When you check in, your room and any pre-booked services (like breakfast allocations or parking spots) are blocked off and reserved exclusively for you for the full length of your booking. Because these dates were held specifically for you and cannot easily be re-sold on short notice, XO Hotels cannot issue refunds or credits for unused nights or services after check-in has taken place.
To protect yourself against financial losses caused by emergencies, illness, or flight disruptions, we strongly recommend securing comprehensive travel insurance before you travel. If you must depart early, our front desk team will gladly issue an official statement of early check-out and an itemized invoice so you can claim a full reimbursement through your insurance provider.
“My work schedule changed unexpectedly and I need to check out two days early. Can I at least get a refund for my pre-paid breakfast or parking pass?”
Once checked in, all pre-booked services (such as breakfast, parking passes, or room extras) are strictly non-refundable. If you know your schedule is prone to sudden changes, we recommend paying for add-ons like breakfast on a day-by-day basis at the hotel reception rather than prepaying for your full stay duration.
“If I have to leave early due to an emergency, how can XO Hotels assist me with my travel insurance claim?”
Before leaving, inform our front desk team. We will issue an official written confirmation stating the exact date and time of your early departure, along with your original proof of payment. This provides all the necessary documentation required by your travel insurance company to process your reimbursement claim.
Yes, babies and children are very welcome at XO Hotels! We cater to families with room categories designed to accommodate larger groups, such as our Triple and Quadruple rooms. Babies and infants under 2 years old stay for free when using existing bedding or a baby cot (available upon request, subject to availability). Children aged 2 and older count toward total room occupancy and pay the standard room rate. Please note that every room must have at least one adult (aged 18 or older) present and student groups are not allowed.
“Are XO Hotels kid-friendly, or will I face hidden fees, tight space constraints, and strict rules when traveling with young children?”
We understand that traveling with family can be stressful, and parents want to be sure their children are genuinely welcomed without surprising extra charges or cramped conditions.
XO Hotels provides a comfortable, family-friendly environment with practical amenities. To ensure your family has enough space to relax, we offer spacious Triple and Quadruple rooms so everyone gets a real bed without needing to book multiple separate rooms.
For infants under 2 years of age, there is zero additional charge, and we will happily place a baby cot in your room free of charge upon request (subject to availability). Just remember to inform us before arrival so we can have your room set up and ready for your little ones!
“How do I request a baby cot for my infant, and is there an extra daily fee?”
Answer: Baby cots are provided free of charge for infants under 2 years old. To reserve one, simply add a note in your reservation details when booking on xohotels.com or send a quick email to our reception team with your booking reference before your arrival date.
“We have a larger family and need two rooms next to each other. Can XO Hotels guarantee connecting rooms?”
Answer: While we do not have connecting rooms with interior doors exept in Hotel Artemis, we take family room allocations very seriously. If you book two rooms, leave a request in your booking notes or contact us in advance; our front desk team will prioritize assigning your rooms side-by-side or on the same floor based on live availability.
No, guests under 18 years of age (minors) are not permitted to stay at XO Hotels unless they are accompanied by an adult (aged 18 or older) who is staying in the same room. Unaccompanied minors will not be allowed to check in, even if they hold a valid reservation and prepayment.
“I am 16 or 17 years old (or booking for my teenage child) traveling independently. Can I check in with a signed parental consent letter, or will XO Hotels turn me away and keep my money?”
We understand that teenagers often travel independently for school trips, concerts, or city breaks, and finding out about age restrictions at the front desk is a major disruption.
Due to local Dutch hospitality regulations and safety laws, XO Hotels strictly enforces an 18+ minimum age requirement. We do not accept parental authorization forms, signed letters of consent, or phone verification in place of an adult staying in the room.
If a minor arrives at check-in without an adult guest present, our reception team cannot issue room keys. To avoid losing money on non-refundable bookings or being stranded upon arrival, please ensure that at least one guest in every booked room is 18 years of age or older with a valid government-issued photo ID at check-in.
“I booked and paid for a room on xohotels.com for my 17-year-old child and their friend. Can they check in when I give my permission?”
No. Regardless of who paid for the reservation, at least one guest staying in the room must be 18 years or older with a matching ID. If no adult is present during check-in, the reservation cannot be fulfilled.
“We are a group of 18-year-old students. Are we allowed to check in by ourselves?”
No. Please note that we do not accept student groups. We do not accept groups in which more than 30% of the participants are under 22 years of age.
We do not place extra beds in our rooms — not because we don't want to, but because we do not have extra beds and the rooms are designed in a way that extra beds simply do not guarantee safety, comfort, and space.
Do you want to stay with three, four, or more people?
It is important to book the correct rooms directly, such as a triple or quadruple room. These rooms have sufficient space, permanent sleeping arrangements, and are set up for multiple guests — ensuring no one has to improvise or sleep cramped.
Are you unsure which room is the best fit? Please contact us by email; we will gladly assist you in finding the best options for your stay.
We understand that needing to go through a middleman when you want to change your dates, cancel, or adjust a payment method can feel frustrating.
When you book through a third-party website, your payment and booking contract are processed directly through their financial systems, not ours. Because of strict data privacy laws and third-party contract agreements, our hotel management system is financially locked from modifying the rate, changing dates, or processing refunds on third-party reservations.
Any financial or date modifications made on our side without platform approval would cause system errors and invalid stays. Updating your reservation through the platform you booked on, guarantees that your payment, confirmation voucher, and hotel reservation remain synchronized and error-free. However, for non-financial requests (such as requesting a quiet room, adding twin beds, or letting us know you'll arrive late), our front desk team is always here to assist you directly!
“I booked through Expedia and need to shift my travel dates. What is the quickest way to get this approved?”
Log into your Expedia account, open your active itinerary, and select "Modify Reservation." Once you submit your requested date change, Expedia automatically sends an instant modification request to our front desk system, allowing us to approve it immediately based on room availability. Please note that this is not the case with non refundable bookings, those are not to be cancelled or modified.
“I booked via Booking.com and have a special room preference or flight delay. Should I message Booking.com or XO Hotels?”
You can message XO Hotels directly! Send us an email message or call us with your primary guest name and confirmation number. Our front desk team manages room allocations directly and will gladly handle your preferences, flight details, or late arrival notes.
Yes, XO Hotels is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Our reception desks and self-service check-in facilities are fully staffed and operational around the clock, allowing you to check in, enter the hotel, or receive guest assistance at any time of day or night, including holidays like Christmas and New Year.
“If I book during the off-peak season, low-traffic months, or major holidays, will hotel services, heating, or front desk staffing be cut back or unavailable?”
We understand that traveling outside peak tourist seasons or during major holidays can raise concerns about reduced service, closed facilities, or skeletal staffing.
At XO Hotels, our operations remain at 100% full service all year long. Whether you arrive on a peak summer day or late at night on New Year's Eve, our reception is open 24/7, our rooms feature climate control (heating and air conditioning), and daily housekeeping operates continuously. If you arrive late at night when main entrance doors are secured for safety, simply ring the entrance bell and our 24/7 front desk team will welcome you inside immediately.
“My flight lands at 2:00 AM on a public holiday. Will there actually be someone at reception to let me in and give me my keycard?”
Absolutely! Our front desk is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you arrive past 23:00, simply ring the night door bell at the main entrance and our reception team will check you in straight away without any late check-in penalties.
“Are hotel amenities, heating, and breakfast services available if I visit Amsterdam in November or January?”
Yes, all guest services—including our continental breakfast buffets, high-speed Wi-Fi, in-room coffee/tea machines, and heating systems—run continuously throughout autumn and winter with zero seasonal shutdowns.
No, XO Hotels does not offer designated day-use rates or daytime-only room bookings. To guarantee access to a room during daytime hours (for example, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM), you must book two full nights (the night before and the night of your stay). Alternatively, if you only want to book a single night, you can try to get an early check-in on your arrival date starting from 10:00 AM (subject to live availability on the moment you are in the hotel) for an additional €25 fee.
“I have a long layover or need a quiet space to rest/work during the day. Why can’t I just book a room for a few hours, and will I be forced to pay for two full nights?”
We understand that travelers with layovers, long flight delays, or daytime work needs often want a temporary space without paying for an unnecessary overnight stay.
Because our hotels operate on standard nightly turnover schedules to guarantee fresh, pristine rooms for every guest, we do not sell hourly or daytime-only rates.
If guaranteed daytime access (such as 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM) is non-negotiable for your schedule, booking the previous night guarantees that your room is clean, checked-in, and waiting for you the moment you step into the hotel in the morning. If you prefer to save money and are willing to accept flexible availability, you can book a single night and try to add an Early Check-in from 10:00 AM for just €25 extra (payable upon arrival, subject to room readiness).
“My flight lands in Amsterdam at 8:00 AM and I need to sleep before my afternoon meeting. How can I get into my room as early as possible?”
If you need 100% guaranteed access the moment you land in the morning, we recommend reserving the night prior to your arrival date. If you arrive around 11:00 AM, you can opt for our early check-in service for €15, provided a room is clean and ready. If no room is ready yet, our 24/7 reception will gladly store your luggage securely for free so you can explore the city or relax in our lounge.
“I just need a quiet room to work for 6 hours during the day. Is there any discount if I check out before the evening?”
Because room preparation costs and daily maintenance remain identical regardless of how long you stay, we do not offer discounted day-rates or partial-stay refunds if you check out before the night ends.
Did you book directly with XO Hotels?
If so, we can confirm your reservation for you via email.
Please send us an email via email with the name of the hotel you booked and your reservation number. We will immediately check whether everything has been received and is in our system. This way, you can be sure that everything is correct before you arrive.
Did you book through another website, such as Booking.com, Expedia, or a travel agency?
Then the confirmation lies with that provider — they send and manage the reservation confirmation. As soon as they transmit the booking to us, it automatically appears in our system as well.
In short:
Booked directly with XO = we confirm.
Booked through another website = confirmation via that website.
This way, we keep it as transparent as possible for you, ensuring you don't fall through the cracks.
While we always make a careful note of your preferences (such as high floors, city views, quiet rooms) and do our best to fulfill them, special room locations or specific views cannot be 100% guaranteed in advance. Room assignments depend on live availability upon check-in.
“I’m traveling for a birthday, anniversary, or special getaway. If I request a nice room or a high-floor view, will my request just be ignored or given away to someone else?”
We understand how important your celebration is, and nobody wants a special occasion spoiled by disappointment at the front desk.
While we cannot officially guarantee exact room numbers or specific views in advance due to unpredictable check-outs and daily room rotations, we take special requests very seriously. When you inform us of an occasion in advance, our front desk team prioritizes your request in our daily room allocation system.
“I am a very light sleeper and need a quiet room on a top floor. When is the best time to request this?”
Answer: Add your request during your online booking or email us as early as possible. Room allocations are prepared on the day of arrival, so contacting us in advance allows our reception team to assign your room preference before general check-in begins.
It usually depends on how you made the reservation, but in most cases, booking confirmations are issued quickly:
You should receive our email confirmation within a few minutes to 15 minutes after completing payment.
Third-Party Travel Agencies & Aggregators: Usually within 1 to 2 hours, though some can take up to 24 hours if manual supplier verification is required.
"What to do if I haven't received the hotel confirmation?"
Check your spam or promotions folder: Confirmation emails often get flagged by email filters.
Or log into your account: If you created an account on the booking website, check the My Bookings or Trips tab to view your confirmation directly.
A minor misspelling in your email address during checkout is a common reason for missing confirmations.
If it has been more than 24 hours (or past the provider's stated window), contact the platform or business with your payment details so they can look up your reservation.
Yes, children pay the same room rate as adults. Room prices at XO Hotels are charged per room per night, based on the room category and total occupancy capacity (e.g., Single, Double, Triple, or Quadruple rooms), rather than the age of individual guests. Babies and infants under 2 years old can stay for free using existing bedding or a baby cot (available upon request, subject to availability).
“I am traveling with my kids. Why am I being charged the full adult rate for a child, and will I be forced to pay for a larger room if my family exceeds standard capacity?”
We understand that family travel expenses add up quickly, and paying full price for children can feel surprising.
At XO Hotels, our room rates are calculated based on the room size, bed configuration, and max legal occupancy required for comfort and fire safety standards—not the age of each guest. Because every child occupying a bed requires the same room space, linen, and cleaning resources as an adult, they count toward the total person count of the room.
To keep your stay as affordable as possible, we offer spacious Triple and Quadruple rooms that allow families to stay together in one room rather than booking multiple separate rooms. For infants under 2 years old, there is zero additional charge.
“I am traveling with a baby under 2 years old. Do I need to book a larger room category or pay an extra person fee?”
Babies under 2 years of age stay free of charge when sleeping in existing bedding or in a baby cot. Please contact the front desk before arrival to request a baby cot so we can ensure one is placed in your room prior to check-in (subject to availability).
“Can I fit 3 or 4 family members into a standard Double Room if two of them are young children?”
Due to strict local Dutch safety and fire regulations, room occupancy limits are enforced based on total headcounts. If your party totals 3 or 4 people (including children older than 2), you must book a Triple or Quadruple room category to ensure everyone has an official bed and adequate space.
Yes, you may have small personal packages or mail delivered to the hotel address during your stay, provided your full name (matching your room reservation) is clearly written on the delivery label.
However, please keep two important delivery conditions in mind:
Hotel staff are strictly not permitted to sign for or accept deliveries that require an official signature, ID check, or payment upon delivery. Any package requiring a signature will be refused and returned with the courier.
We have limited storage space in our luggage rooms. If a delivery is excessively large or consists of multiple bulky items that exceed our standard storage space, extra handling or storage fees may apply or it is possible that we can not accept the package, as we can not store it.
“Can I order online shopping (like Amazon or Zara) or business packages to XO Hotels before I check in, and will reception safely hold them for me?”
We understand that travelers often rely on online shopping or business deliveries while on the road, but using a hotel as a permanent shipping destination carries operational risks.
While we are happy to hold standard-sized parcel deliveries for arriving or in-house guests, we cannot act as a full-service postal hub or assume liability for lost items. If a package arrives before your reservation date, requires a receiver signature, or arrives without your reservation name clearly listed, it will be rejected by reception.
Additionally, because luggage room space is strictly budgeted for guest suitcases, delivering oversized cargo, pallets, or large volumes of boxes will incur extra storage fees. To ensure your package is received successfully, schedule deliveries strictly within your stay dates and ensure no signature is requested by the carrier.
“I am having urgent business documents or equipment shipped to the hotel. Can reception sign for the parcel if I am out exploring Amsterdam?”
No. For legal and security reasons, XO Hotels staff members are not authorized to sign for incoming parcels, certified letters, or registered mail on behalf of guests. If your courier (such as DHL, FedEx, or UPS) requires a signature upon delivery, the driver will not hand over the parcel, and it will be taken back to the carrier's local depot. Please ensure your sender selects a standard "no signature required" delivery option or arranges delivery directly to a nearby parcel locker point.
“I am shipping bicycle boxes, large equipment, or multiple oversized suitcases ahead of my arrival. Is there room to store them?”
Our luggage storage areas are designed primarily for standard guest hand luggage and suitcases. If a parcel or freight delivery is too large, bulky, or numerous for our standard luggage room, extra storage fees may occur upon acceptance. If you plan to ship oversized items or heavy freight, please contact the hotel directly via email before placing your order to discuss the size dimensions, storage availability, and potential extra costs.
Before arriving at XO Hotels, keep these essential operational guidelines in mind:
Cashless Property: Cash is not accepted anywhere on the premises. Payments for room charges or additional amenities must be made electronically (credit card, debit card, or PayPal).
Strict Age Limit: At least one guest per room must be 18 years or older on the day of check-in.
Non-Smoking Policy: All XO Hotels properties are 100% non-smoking (including e-cigarettes and vaping) across all indoor spaces.
Alcohol Policy: XO Hotels are alcohol-free properties in public areas (no alcohol is sold on-site, except for Hotel Artemis). Guests may bring and consume personal alcohol inside their private guest rooms only.
Pet Policy: Pets are not permitted inside any XO Hotels property.
Zero Visitor Policy: Only registered guests are allowed in hotel rooms. Unregistered visitors are strictly prohibited from entering room floors.
“Are XO Hotels’ house rules unusually strict, and will I risk fines or being asked to leave if I unknowingly break a policy?”
We enforce firm, transparent house rules primarily to guarantee safety, quiet rest, and a secure environment for all staying guests. While our rules are strict regarding safety and guest conduct, they are designed to be straightforward so there are no surprises:
Tampering with or covering room smoke detectors triggers a strict €200 fine and immediate termination of stay without a refund. Setting off a false alarm in room via smoking or using open flames/cooking devices the same.
Possessing, buying, or consuming illegal drugs (including recreational drugs and nitrous oxide capsules) on hotel grounds is strictly illegal under municipal law and results in immediate eviction without refund.
By communicating these policies clearly prior to arrival, we ensure that every guest enjoys a calm, undisturbed, and safe environment throughout their stay.
“We are a group of university students traveling together. Are there any restrictions on group bookings?”
Yes. XO Hotels maintains a strict policy regarding group age demographics: we do not accept youth groups where more than 30% of the total participants are under 22 years old. In addition, every room must have at least one adult guest who is 18 or older. Group reservations that do not meet these age criteria may be canceled prior to or upon arrival.
We can sent you you a e-mail confirmation with signature and stamp when you pay the first night of your reservation. This is a non-refundable fee, in case of cancellation of your reservation we will not refund this fee. Contact by us email for more information.
No, pets are not allowed in our hotels. This policy helps us ensure the comfort and safety of all our guests, especially those with allergies.
The restriction applies to all types of pets, regardless of their size.
Do you have an assistance or service dog? Of course, your dog is welcome, as long as you inform us in advance. Please email us before your arrival with the details so we can prepare everything properly.
Feel free to let us know any preference you may have — twin beds, a quiet location, a high or low floor, a specific view, and so on.
We will immediately note it down with your reservation, and the reception team will do everything possible to assign you that room. What we do want to be honest about is this:
We can only confirm it definitively upon arrival. This is because the availability of specific room types varies daily and per hotel. But here is the good news:
The sooner you communicate your preference, the greater the chance we can arrange it perfectly for you.
Send us your request via email, and we will make sure it is neatly added to your reservation.
We do not treat these preferences as “paid extras,” but as ways to make your stay just right — and we do our utmost to make them happen.
Don't worry. XO Hotels has a 24-hour reception, so you can still check in even if your flight, train, bus, ferry, or car journey is delayed. Whether you arrive late in the evening or during the night, there will be a team member available to assist you.
If you know you will arrive after 11:00 PM, we recommend informing the hotel. This is not mandatory, but it allows the team to note your expected arrival time and ensure your reservation remains active.
"My flight was delayed, my train was cancelled, and I'm arriving much later than planned. Will the hotel give my room away?"
No. Transport delays happen every day, and the hotel understands that many travel disruptions are outside your control.
If you know you will be arriving significantly later than expected, sending a quick message or calling the hotel is always appreciated. This allows the reception team to update your reservation and know that you are still on your way.
The most important situation is when you will arrive the following day rather than on your original arrival date. In that case, you should definitely contact the hotel so the team knows you still intend to use the reservation and does not treat it as a no-show.
"My flight lands after midnight. Is that a problem?"
Not at all. Many international flights arrive late in the evening or experience delays. XO Hotels has a 24-hour reception, so you can still check in when you arrive. If the main entrance is closed for security reasons, simply ring the doorbell and a receptionist will assist you.
"My train was cancelled and I'll arrive several hours later than planned. Do I need to rebook my reservation?"
Usually not. If you are still arriving on your scheduled arrival date, your reservation remains valid. A quick message to the hotel is helpful so the team knows when to expect you.
"Heavy traffic or roadworks are causing major delays. Should I worry about arriving after midnight?"
No. Amsterdam traffic, roadworks, accidents, and holiday congestion can occasionally cause significant delays. If you expect to arrive very late, simply let the hotel know. Reception remains available throughout the night.
"What if I don't know exactly when I'll arrive?"
That's perfectly fine. Travel doesn't always go according to plan. If possible, send the hotel an update when you have a better estimate. The team understands that delays, missed connections, long immigration queues, and traffic congestion can make arrival times unpredictable. The goal is simply to ensure your room is ready and that the hotel knows you're still travelling.
"My transport disruption is so severe that I won't arrive until the following day. What should I do?"
Contact the hotel as soon as possible. This is the one situation where communication is especially important. If the hotel has not heard from you, your reservation may eventually be treated as a no-show. By notifying the hotel, the team can advise you on the available options and make sure your booking is handled correctly.
"I'm worried because everything is going wrong with my journey. Will someone still help me when I finally arrive?"
Yes. Travel delays can be frustrating and exhausting, especially after a long day. When you arrive, the reception team will still be available to welcome you, check you in, and help you start your stay as smoothly as possible. Whether you arrive at 11:00 PM or 3:00 AM, you won't find a closed hotel or be left outside wondering what to do next.
If your flight, train, ferry, or other transport is cancelled, please contact the hotel as soon as possible and let us know what is happening. Our reception is available 24 hours a day and can update your reservation accordingly.
If you are still planning to arrive later the same day, your room will remain available. If you expect to arrive the following day instead, it is especially important to inform the hotel so we know you are still travelling and do not mistakenly treat the reservation as a no-show.
If you have to inform us that you will not arrive at all, let us know if you need an invoice (not applicable for all third party bookers) for your travel insurance, in order for you to claim the costs.
"My flight was cancelled. Will I lose my reservation and my money?"
Not necessarily, but you should contact the hotel immediately.
Transport disruptions are unfortunately part of modern travel. Airlines can cancel flights, rail operators can suspend services, and severe weather can disrupt entire travel networks. The most important thing you can do is keep the hotel informed.
The options available to you depend on:
Whether you booked directly with XO Hotels or through a third party.
Which rate you selected (flexible or non-refundable).
Whether you can still arrive on your original arrival date or a day later.
Whether your travel insurance covers the disruption.
The earlier you contact the hotel, the more options may be available to discuss your situation.
"My airline cancelled my flight and I won't arrive until tomorrow. What should I do?"
Contact the hotel as soon as you receive confirmation of the cancellation. Explain the situation and provide your new expected arrival time if known.
Hotels cannot see airline disruptions automatically. If the hotel has not heard from you, your reservation may eventually be treated as a no-show. A quick message or phone call helps ensure everyone has the same information.
"The cancellation wasn't my fault. Will the hotel automatically waive all charges?"
No, we can not. Hotels, airlines, and rail operators all operate under different terms and conditions. Whether charges can be waived, modified, or refunded depends on the booking conditions you agreed to when making the reservation. This is why travel insurance can be extremely valuable when unexpected disruptions occur.
"My flight was cancelled and I'm worried I'll miss my concert, meeting, cruise departure, or event. Can the hotel help?"
While the hotel cannot control transport disruptions, the reception team can often help with practical information, directions, local transport advice, and recommendations once you arrive. If your arrival plans change significantly, informing the hotel allows the team to better assist you.
"What is the single most important thing to do after a flight or train cancellation?"
Contact the hotel immediately.
Many travellers spend hours trying to arrange replacement transport but forget to update their accommodation. A quick phone call or email to the hotel can prevent misunderstandings, reduce stress, and ensure your reservation is handled correctly while you focus on getting to Amsterdam.
Our check-in time is from 2 PM or 3 PM, depending on the hotel.
An early check-in is possible with a supplement of €5 per hour (e.g. if you want to check in at 11 AM, the supplement is €15/€20). If you want to check in before 10 AM, you pay the daily rate of the day prior to your arrival.
The early check-in is subject to availability. The reception can check at the time of your arrival whether a room is already available and add the supplement for you.
It is always possible to keep your luggage in our luggage room free of charge, so you can go into town and start enjoying your stay in Amsterdam immediately.
24/7 Reception and Late Arrival Policy
Don't worry: our reception is open 24 hours a day.
Even if you arrive late — even in the middle of the night — someone will be ready to let you in and check you in.
If the hotel door is closed in the evening, you can simply ring the bell and the receptionist will open it.
Are you arriving after 11:00 PM?
Please let us know. Not because it is mandatory, but because it allows us to actively take your arrival time into account, hold your room, and ensure everything is ready when you step inside.
Are you only arriving the next day? Please definitely let us know, so we know we can still expect you and do not cancel your reservation after 11 AM the following morning.
This way, you can start your stay without rush, stress, or uncertainty — exactly as it should be.
No Curfew Policy
There is no curfew at XO Hotels — you can enter at any time, day or night.
When the door is closed in the evening, you can simply ring the bell; our reception is staffed 24/7 and will open the door for you immediately. Whether you dine late, have an evening flight, or return deep in the night: you never have to watch the clock and you will never find a closed hotel. You can always enter when it suits you.
Yes. In accordance with local Dutch municipal laws and safety regulations, all guests checking in must present a valid, original physical photo ID at the reception desk. Acceptable forms of identification include an official passport, a European Union national identity card, or a valid driver’s license. Copies, digital photos on your smartphone, or paper scans are strictly not accepted.
“Why is the hotel requiring a physical ID for everyone in my party—is my data being stored safely, and what happens if I only have a digital copy?”
We know that handing over your identity documents can feel like a privacy concern, and traveling with digital copies on your phone has become second nature. Here is why physical identification is strictly required and how your information is safeguarded
Dutch government regulations mandate that hotels verify the identity of every guest staying on the property to maintain building security and register required municipal tourism records.
To protect against identity theft and fraudulent reservations, hotel policy requires staff to inspect physical documents directly.
A smartphone screenshot, paper photocopy, or picture of an ID cannot be accepted as valid proof under Dutch hospitality rules.
We respect your privacy. Your personal information is securely handled in full compliance with European GDPR standards. We do not store copies of your documents; identification is verified solely to confirm your booking and fulfill statutory register obligations.
“Does every single person staying in the room need to present an ID, or is the main booker’s passport enough?”
Every individual guest staying in the room must present their own physical passport or valid national ID card at check-in. The lead guest's document alone is not sufficient, as local authorities require every staying individual to be verified on the official room registry. Please ensure everyone in your travel group has their official identity document ready upon arrival.
“What ID requirements apply if I am traveling with children or teenagers under 18?”
All guests—including children and infants—must have a valid government-issued ID or passport presented at check-in. Additionally, guests under the age of 18 cannot check in alone and must be accompanied by an adult throughout their entire stay.
“My passport was lost or stolen during my trip—can I still check in with a police report or copy?”
If your official passport or ID has been lost or stolen, please bring the official police report (proces-verbaal) issued by local law enforcement, along with an emergency travel document issued by your embassy. Our front desk team will review emergency travel documentation on a case-by-case basis to assist you in getting checked in safely.
Yes! All XO Hotels locations feature fast, intuitive self check-in kiosks right in the lobby. You can scan your reservation details, confirm your ID, code your key card, and complete your check-in in under two minutes—getting you to your room as quickly and smoothly as possible.
“Are self check-in kiosks complicated to use, and does automated check-in mean there won't be any human staff available if something goes wrong?”
We know that using automated machines after a long travel day can feel overwhelming, especially if you hit a technical glitch, have payment questions, or need special assistance.
Here is how our self check-in system keeps your arrival stress-free:
Our self check-in kiosks are designed to eliminate lines, not human hospitality. Front desk staff members are on-site and present in the lobby 24/7 to guide you through the screen or answer questions.
The touchscreen supports multiple languages and takes you step-by-step through looking up your reservation, making payments (if not prepaid), and issuing your room key card.
If you need assistance, store your luggage, adjust reservation details, or request additional amenities, our lobby hosts will take care of it on the spot.
“Can I use the self check-in kiosk if I arrive late at night or before standard check-in time?”
Yes. Our self check-in kiosks and 24/7 lobby reception are active around the clock. If you arrive after standard check-in time (typically 3:00 PM onwards), the kiosk will immediately assign your room and program your key card. If you arrive early before your room is ready, the system will let you register, drop your bags securely in our free luggage storage room, and head straight out to explore Amsterdam.
“What if I struggle with touchscreen devices or want to pay with cash at check-in?”
Our reception hosts are always right next to the kiosks to assist or complete the check-in for you. While our self check-in machines accept major credit and debit cards, our staff can assist directly at the desk if you have specialized payment requests or need personal assistance with your booking.
“Can we check in multiple rooms or issue extra key cards at the self check-in kiosk?”
Yes! During the kiosk process, you can select how many physical key cards you need for your room. If you booked multiple rooms under the same name, our staff in the lobby will help combine or assign your rooms side-by-side so your group stays connected easily.
Yes. All XO Hotels have a reception that is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This means you can check in, ask questions, report a problem, request assistance, or return to the hotel at any time—whether that's early in the morning, late at night, or even in the middle of the night.
If the main entrance is locked during the night for security reasons, simply ring the doorbell and a member of our team will let you in.
"What if my flight is delayed and I don't arrive until after midnight? Will I lose my room?"
No. Your room reservation remains valid even if you arrive late at night. XO Hotels has a 24-hour reception, so there is always someone available to assist with your arrival. Whether your flight lands late, your train is delayed, or traffic takes longer than expected, you can still check in when you arrive.
If you expect to arrive after 11:00 PM, we recommend letting the hotel know. This helps the team prepare for your arrival and ensures everything is ready when you reach the hotel.
For travelers arriving the following day rather than on the scheduled arrival date, it is especially important to contact the hotel so your reservation is not treated as a no-show.
"My flight lands very late. Can I still check in at 1:00 AM, 2:00 AM, or later?"
Yes. Late-night arrivals are not a problem. The reception is staffed 24/7, and you can check in whenever you arrive. Many guests traveling internationally arrive outside normal business hours, and the hotel is prepared for that.
"Will someone actually be available if I need help during the night?"
Yes. A reception team member is available 24 hours a day. If you have a question, need assistance, experience a problem in your room, or require help during the night, you can contact reception at any time.
"Is there a curfew? Do I need to be back by a certain time?"
No. XO Hotels does not have a curfew. You are free to come and go whenever you wish. Whether you are enjoying Amsterdam's nightlife, attending a concert, arriving from a late flight, or returning from a day trip, you can enter the hotel at any hour.
"If the reception is open all night, does that mean the hotel is open to anyone?"
No. While reception is staffed 24/7, hotel entrances will be secured during the night. If the front door is locked, guests can ring the bell and staff will provide access. This helps balance convenience for guests with the security of the hotel.
"I will arrive in Amsterdam early in the morning. Can reception help me before my room is ready?"
Absolutely. Even if your room is not yet available, reception can assist you. You may be able to arrange an early check-in if a room is available, or you can leave your luggage at the hotel and start exploring Amsterdam while your room is being prepared.
If you arrive before the official check-in time, you are still very welcome at the hotel. Your room may already be available, in which case you can check in early for a small supplement. Early check-in is always subject to availability and can only be confirmed on the day of arrival.
If your room is not yet ready, you can leave your luggage free of charge in the hotel's luggage room and start exploring Amsterdam immediately instead of waiting in the lobby.
For arrivals before 10:00 AM, the previous night's room rate applies because the room must be reserved and available for you overnight.
"My flight lands at 6:00 AM. Will I be stuck waiting for hours with my suitcases?"
Not at all. Many international flights arrive in Amsterdam early in the morning, and XO Hotels is prepared for that.
When you arrive, reception can immediately check whether a room is already available. If it is, you may be able to check in early for a supplement. If not, you can safely leave your luggage free of charge and start enjoying your day in Amsterdam instead of carrying your bags around the city.
Because every departing guest checks out at different times and rooms still need to be cleaned and inspected, no hotel can guarantee an early check-in in advance, only when you are at the desk. Being transparent about availability is the fairest approach for all guests.
"I've been travelling all night. Can I guarantee a room when I arrive at 7:00 AM?"
Only if you book the night before your arrival.
Many travellers assume that a room booked for Tuesday can be occupied at 7:00 AM Tuesday morning. In reality, hotel nights run from the afternoon of the arrival date until the following morning. If you know you need immediate access to your room after a night flight, booking the previous night is the best option. Otherwise, early check-in depends on availability when you arrive.
"What can we do if we arrive early with children and our room isn't ready yet?"
You can leave your luggage at the hotel and start your Amsterdam visit right away. Many families choose to have breakfast, visit a park, explore a museum, or take a canal cruise while the room is being prepared. Reception can often provide local recommendations suitable for families.
"I have a meeting shortly after arriving in Amsterdam. Can I freshen up before check-in?"
Reception can check whether an early check-in is available upon arrival. If a room is ready, you can access it immediately for the applicable early check-in supplement. If not, you can leave your luggage securely and continue with your plans while housekeeping prepares your room.
You can reach the hotels from Schiphol airport by different means of transport. Please check the hotel pages or the Location-page for the specific directions.
Our hotels do not have their own shuttle service, but there are several simple options to reach us comfortably:
Taxi or ride-share: available directly upon arrival at Schiphol Airport or the train station.
Public transport: our hotels are easily accessible by bus, tram, or train, and you can find more information on our Location Page.
We are happy to help you plan the most comfortable and stress-free route, ensuring your arrival goes smoothly, regardless of your arrival time or amount of luggage.
Travelling to Amsterdam by car?
XO Hotels is an excellent choice for guests coming to Amsterdam by car. All our hotels are easily accessible, although the route may differ depending on the location. Due to environmental zones, one‑way streets and temporary road closures, we recommend planning your route carefully in advance.
Up‑to‑date directions and navigation
Use Google Maps or another updated navigation system to avoid unexpected detours or closed roads. Visit our Location page for more information.
Driving in Amsterdam
Amsterdam operates environmental zones that restrict older diesel vehicles.
Our hotels located near the A10 ring road — XO Hotels Park West, XO Hotels Blue Square, XO Hotels Blue Tower, XO Hotels Infinity, XO Hotels Couture and Hotel Artemis — are easy to reach without driving through the busy city centre. This makes them particularly convenient for guests arriving by car.
Do you have an electric car?
You can charge it at most of our hotels. Please check your hotel’s page for specific options.
Parking upon arrival
At hotels with their own car park or parking garage, you can drive straight to the entrance upon arrival. From the parking area, there is direct access to the hotel reception.
If you’re staying at a centrally located hotel such as XO Hotels City Centre, please note that many streets are only accessible to destination traffic. We recommend checking nearby parking options in advance on our website.
Our tips for a smooth arrival
Always enter the exact address of your specific hotel into your navigation system. If you’re unsure about street access during the final stretch, don’t hesitate to call the reception. Our team is familiar with local traffic conditions and will be happy to assist you in reaching the hotel without detours.
Book directly on our website and add a parking space to your reservation (not applicable for XO Hotels Park West).
In short
XO Hotels is one of the best choices in Amsterdam for guests travelling by car: easily accessible locations, clear route information, several hotels near the A10 ring road, and friendly 24/7 reception teams ready to help you on arrival.
Looking for a good hotel in Amsterdam with parking?
Parking in Amsterdam can be challenging, but at XO Hotels, most of our properties offer safe, affordable, and convenient on‑site parking. This way, you don’t need to search for a public parking space, and you can start your stay feeling relaxed.
Which XO Hotels have their own car park or garage?
If you’ve booked at Hotel Artemis, Hotel Levell, XO Hotels Blue Square, XO Hotels Couture or XO Hotels Park West, you’ll be staying at a hotel in Amsterdam with parking facilities. Guests can use our parking spaces for a fixed and competitive daily rate — so you always know what to expect without extra surprises.
Why parking at XO Hotels is a smart choice:
- Convenience: We offer ample parking capacity, and reservations are not required. In practice, guests almost always find a space right away.
- Safety: Your car is securely parked in a closed garage or on private hotel grounds, out of sight from passers‑by.
- Affordability: Our parking rates are significantly lower than central city parking and often lower than official Park & Ride (P+R) locations. Current 24‑hour rates are listed on each hotel’s webpage.
Booked a XO Hotel without its own parking?
If you’re staying at one of our centrally located hotels — XO Hotels City Centre, XO Hotels Infinity, Hotel van Gogh, XO Hotel Inner or XO Hotels Blue Tower — these properties do not have their own parking due to their central locations.
Our advice:
We’ll gladly advise you on nearby public car parks or official municipal Park & Ride (P+R) facilities. Upon arrival, our reception team can inform you about the safest and most affordable options available at that moment.
Our tip for a hassle‑free stay
Amsterdam has excellent public transport links. Many guests choose to park their car at our hotel and travel to the city centre within 15–20 minutes by tram or metro. This way, you avoid busy city traffic and high parking fees in the centre.
In short:
XO Hotels is an excellent choice for guests seeking a good hotel in Amsterdam with secure parking, affordable rates, and quick access to the city centre.
Tip: Book directly via our official website to add parking to your reservation right away (not available at XO Hotels Park West).
We do not have bus parking available. For information regarding parking for busses you can have a look at the tourbuzz website.
Yes — all our hotels are located in areas where you can find shops within a few minutes' walk. These include supermarkets, drugstores, and small neighborhood stores where you can get everything you need during your stay.
So, you don't have to plan, don't have to search, and certainly don't have to make detours:
everything practical is located right near the hotel. This allows you to travel relaxed and always have a shop within walking distance if you've forgotten something.
When you make a reservation with us, we ask you to pay immediately using one of the following payment methods:
Credit Card (Visa or Mastercard)
PayPal
Debit Card (Vpay, Maestro, etc.)
For everyone’s safety – yours and ours – we do not accept cash at the hotel.
With us, local taxes such as tourist or city tax are always included in the price.
This means you never have to worry about carrying cash and your payment is fully settled before you arrive.
You do not need to show a credit card upon arrival, as your stay has already been fully paid for.
All payments must be settled in full before check-in.
It is not possible to book on account (to be paid after departure upon receipt of an invoice) at our hotels.
Did you book directly with us? Then we can always provide you with an invoice — including company details. We kindly request these details before check-out so we can issue the invoice correctly.
Did you book through an online travel agency (such as Expedia)? In that case, you can only request the invoice from them, as the payment was processed through their system.
You can pay in advance via an online payment link. If you contact us, we can send you an online payment link.
If you have made a direct booking or a booking through Booking.com it is possible to receive an invoice of your stay after check out. In case you have booked through an online agent/booking website, you will have to ask them for an invoice.
If the invoice must be on a company name, we would like to receive the name and address details well in advance of your check out.
At XO Hotels, your stay is paid in full before arrival, and guests are not required to leave a security deposit at check-in. You also do not need to present the credit card used for payment when you arrive, as your reservation has already been settled.
If there are exceptional circumstances that require additional verification or security measures, the hotel will explain these clearly during the booking or check-in process.
"Am I going to arrive and suddenly be asked for a large deposit that wasn't mentioned when I booked?"
No. One of the advantages of staying at XO Hotels is that payment is normally completed before arrival. Unlike some hotels that place substantial temporary holds on your credit card, XO Hotels operates on a prepayment basis. This means you know exactly what has been paid before you arrive.
If any additional payment, guarantee, or deposit were required in a specific situation, the hotel would communicate this directly rather than surprising you at reception.
"Do I need a credit card for a security deposit when I check in?"
No. Because reservations are paid before arrival, guests do not need to provide a credit card at check-in for a security deposit.
"Will money be blocked on my card during my stay?"
No. Many travellers worry about temporary authorisations that reduce their available spending money during a trip. XO Hotels uses a prepayment model, meaning your accommodation is paid before arrival rather than secured by a large temporary hold at check-in.
"Can I stay at XO Hotels if I don't have a credit card?"
Yes. Reservations can be paid using several electronic payment methods, including debit cards and PayPal. Cash payments are not accepted.
Yes. At XO Hotels, local taxes such as Amsterdam's tourist tax and city tax are included in the price shown during the booking process. This means the amount you see when booking directly is the amount you pay for your stay, without an additional tourist tax being added at check-in or check-out.
Your booking confirmation will also show the details of your reservation and any applicable taxes.
"Will I arrive at the hotel and be surprised by extra tourist taxes?"
No. Many travellers have experienced hotels where local taxes are added later, making the final price higher than expected. At XO Hotels, local taxes are included in the displayed room price when booking directly, helping you understand the total accommodation cost before you complete your reservation.
This approach helps avoid unpleasant surprises and makes it easier to budget for your trip to Amsterdam.
"I've heard Amsterdam has one of Europe's highest tourist taxes. Do I have to calculate this myself?"
No. Amsterdam charges a tourist tax on hotel stays, but when booking directly with XO Hotels, the applicable local taxes are already included in the price shown to you. You do not need to calculate percentages or estimate additional costs yourself.
"Is the price I see really the price I'll pay?"
For your accommodation, yes. The room price shown during the booking process already includes local taxes. Optional extras such as breakfast, parking, bicycle rental, or late check-out may have separate charges if you choose to add them, but the tourist tax itself is already included.
"Why do some websites show tourist tax separately while XO Hotels includes it?"
Different booking platforms display taxes differently. Some travel websites separate taxes and fees until the final booking step, while others include them in the headline price. XO Hotels aims to provide transparent pricing, which is why local taxes are included in the direct booking price shown on the official website.
"Can I see the tourist tax amount on my invoice?"
Yes. The invoice can show the relevant payment details, including taxes where applicable. XO Hotels can also provide invoices with company information when requested.
"I've stayed at hotels that added unexpected taxes at check-out. Will that happen at XO Hotels?"
No. XO Hotels includes local taxes in the booking price, so you do not have to worry about discovering an additional tourist tax charge when leaving the hotel. The goal is simple: the price you book should be the price you expect to pay.
Yes. At XO Hotels, you decide whether you would like your room serviced during your stay.
If you would like housekeeping service, our team can clean your room daily. The standard housekeeping service includes:
Cleaning the bathroom.
Dusting the room.
Making the bed.
Vacuum cleaning the room.
For environmental reasons, bed linen is not changed daily. Fresh linen can be provided during longer stays according to the hotel's linen replacement schedule. Towels are only replaced, when on the floor.
Housekeeping service normally takes place between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. On busy days or during peak occupancy periods, room servicing may continue until approximately 7:00 PM.
If you prefer privacy, simply use the "Do Not Disturb" sign or inform reception, and housekeeping will not enter your room.
"Will housekeeping enter my room when I'm not there? And what exactly will they do?"
Not if you ask us not to. Many guests appreciate returning to a clean room, while others prefer complete privacy during their stay. If you place the "Do Not Disturb" sign on your door or inform reception that you do not want service, housekeeping will respect your request.
When housekeeping services your room, the focus is on maintaining cleanliness and comfort rather than performing a full departure clean every day. A standard service includes cleaning the bathroom, dusting surfaces, making the bed, and vacuuming the room.
Some guests are surprised that hotel bed linen is not replaced every day. At XO Hotels, linen is changed for new check ins only, helping reduce unnecessary water and energy consumption while maintaining high cleanliness standards.
"I don't like people entering my room. Can I completely skip housekeeping?"
Absolutely. Many guests choose to opt out of housekeeping for privacy, security, cultural, religious, or personal reasons. Simply place the "Do Not Disturb" sign on your door or notify reception.
Your room will remain private, and housekeeping will not enter unless there is an urgent safety or maintenance reason. If you stay over 3 nights and have Do Not Disturb for 3 days, we do require entrance to the room to service.
"Why doesn't the hotel change the bed linen every day?"
Because most guests do not change their bed linen daily at home, and doing so unnecessarily consumes large amounts of water, detergent, and energy.
By not replacing linen every day, we reduce environmental impact while still maintaining a clean and comfortable room. Your room will still receive daily service, including bathroom cleaning, dusting, bed making, and vacuuming.
"If the bed linen isn't changed every day, is the room still properly cleaned?"
Yes. Daily housekeeping focuses on the areas that matter most to guests: a clean bathroom, tidy room, made bed, dust-free surfaces, and vacuumed floors.
The fact that linen is not replaced every day does not mean your room is not being cleaned. It means we avoid replacing perfectly clean linen unnecessarily.
"My child naps during the day. Can housekeeping come at a specific time?"
You are welcome to inform reception of your preference, and we will do our best to assist.
However, because housekeeping services many rooms each day, exact cleaning times cannot be guaranteed. Most rooms are serviced between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, although service may occasionally continue until 7:00 PM during busy periods.
If your child is sleeping, using the "Do Not Disturb" sign or talk to reception about your doubt, is the best way to avoid interruptions.
"I work from my room during the day. When can I expect housekeeping?"
Most rooms are serviced between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. If you are attending online meetings, making business calls, or using your room as a temporary office, you may prefer to use the "Do Not Disturb" sign or talk to reception, or request service on another day.
"Can I know exactly when housekeeping will clean my room?"
Unfortunately, no. Housekeeping schedules depend on occupancy levels, departures, arrivals, maintenance requirements, and operational priorities. While most rooms are serviced between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, cleaning may occasionally continue until 7:00 PM.
"If I skip housekeeping today, can I request service tomorrow?"
Of course. You are free to decide each day whether you would like housekeeping service. Some guests prefer daily cleaning, while others only request service occasionally. Simply let reception know your preference, and we will do our best to accommodate it.
Every room features, at minimum, a comfortable desk, a modern flat-screen television, a practical free safe, complimentary coffee and tea making facilities, and a private, hygienic bathroom with a shower, toilet, washbasin, soft towels, and caring guest supplies such as shampoo and shower gel. Other extras – such as air conditioning, minibar, underfloor heating, or rain shower – differ per hotel and room type, and are always clearly stated with the chosen room.
Does the room truly feel complete, or will I miss a key convenience?
The room is designed as a quiet, functional cocoon: sufficient power outlets, well-functioning lighting, a sturdy desk, and a clear TV screen so you can work or watch TV comfortably without having to improvise on the bed. What is not standard is not hidden in the fine print; if a certain facility is crucial to you (e.g., bathtub, underfloor heating, air conditioning), you can check this beforehand with the room type or inquire directly.
I am traveling for work / with children / with a lot of luggage – are the room facilities suitable?
For business guests, the quiet, practical workspace with good lighting, reliable Wi-Fi, and ample power outlets is particularly important, allowing you to catch up on work or take a call after a long day without hassle. Travelers with children or a lot of luggage benefit from the smart, well-organized layout: sturdy beds, sufficient storage space, and an easy-to-clean bathroom, so the room doesn't immediately feel 'full' or cluttered as soon as you unzip your suitcase.
Yes, every room has its own safe that is free to use, large enough for items including a laptop. We recommend always keeping passports, cash, and other valuables in the safe when you leave the room.
How secure is the safe in my room, actually? The safe can only be opened with your personal code, ensuring that hotel staff cannot access it during your stay.
What if I forget the safe code? The hotel reception follows standard security procedures if a code reset is needed.
I am traveling alone and sleeping in a single room; will I also have a safe? All single rooms have a safe, except for one. Due to space constraints, the single room at XO Hotels Infinity does not have a safe in the room. If it is important to you to have a private safe in the room, you should choose a different room type (e.g., a Double or Triple Room) or a different XO location.
In all hotels you will find a hairdryer in the bathroom of your room.
Of course, you want to look your best — whether you have an important business presentation ahead or an evening out in Amsterdam. We understand that clothing packed in a suitcase for hours rarely comes out wrinkle-free.
At XO Hotels, you won’t find an iron and ironing board in every room. We made this choice deliberately to keep the rooms spacious and uncluttered, so you won’t trip over an ironing board you don’t need.
How do we make sure you still look sharp?
Each of our hotels has irons and sturdy ironing boards available. You can collect them 24/7 at the reception.
Our tip for stress-free travel: do you have an early appointment tomorrow morning? Simply pick up the iron and ironing board the evening before from our reception team. That way, you can prepare your outfit in your own time and privacy.
This is a complimentary service for our guests. We do ask for a small deposit, which will be refunded once you return the ironing set.
No need to worry about your appearance — we provide the tools, you create the impression.
At XO Hotels, we make a conscious choice: instead of offering a standard minibar filled with overpriced items, we prefer to provide in-room comfort and a fair room rate.
Which XO Hotels have a fridge in the room?
XO Hotels Park West, XO Hotels Couture, XO Hotels Blue Tower, XO Hotels Blue Square, Hotel Artemis, Hotel Levell and XO Hotels Rivium Rotterdam.
The fridge is small and compact, but large enough to keep your drinks cool.
Do you need refrigeration for medication? Please let us know when booking or at the reception. We will personally ensure that your medication is safely stored at the right temperature.
Would you like a cold drink? All our hotels feature modern vending machines, available 24/7, offering snacks and drinks at normal prices – not “minibar prices”.
The use of the in-room fridge is a complimentary service for our guests.
We do not promise a filled fridge, but we do promise to do everything we can to meet your specific needs, such as medical requirements.
Tip: Planning to store bottles of water in the fridge? The tap water in Amsterdam is of excellent drinking quality. You can refill your bottles – a sustainable choice!
In most hotels you can buy an adapter from the vending machine in the lobby.
Your room can be cleaned every day. If you do not want to be disturbed during your stay, you can use the Do not disturb card/panel.
In case of a large number of check-outs, the rooms of departing guests will be cleaned first. As a result, your room may not be cleaned until later in the day.
If housekeeping is no longer available, you can obtain clean towels and guest supplies from reception.
You’d like to start your holiday without a physical challenge — and we completely understand. Amsterdam is famous for its historic narrow houses with steep staircases, but at XO Hotels, we focus on providing modern comfort.
Here’s the honest situation:
Yes, every XO Hotel has one or more elevators. You’ll never have to carry your luggage up to the fourth floor — the lift does the heavy work for you.
A note about historical buildings:
Since some of our hotels are housed in beautiful, characteristic buildings, the layouts can be unique. In a few cases, the elevator will take you to the correct floor, but you may have to climb a few small steps to reach your specific room door.
Do you have mobility issues? This is very important to us. If you use a wheelchair, have limited mobility, are traveling with a stroller, or carry a lot of luggage, please let us know when booking. We will personally make sure that you are assigned a room that is completely step-free and fully accessible by lift.
No need to worry about “Amsterdam stair adventures” — we’ll make sure you reach your room comfortably.
Would you like to know the exact route to your room type in a specific hotel? Get in touch with us; we’re happy to help.
You can reach us by email or phone.
Tip: If you need an accessible room, you can book the so-called MIVA room at Hotel Artemis Amsterdam.
In none of our hotels we have special disabled rooms.
In many cases, yes. Several XO Hotels offer bicycle parking in their parking garage or on hotel premises. If you are travelling with your own bicycle, please contact your hotel before arrival so we can advise you about the available storage options at that specific location.
Please note that bicycles are not allowed inside hotel rooms or other guest areas of the hotel. This rule helps protect the rooms and ensures safety and comfort for all guests.
"I'm travelling with an expensive bicycle. Will I have to leave it outside overnight?"
We understand why cyclists worry about this. Whether you are travelling with a road bike, e-bike, mountain bike, touring bike, or a bicycle worth several thousand euros, leaving it unsecured outdoors is rarely ideal.
Several XO Hotels offer bicycle parking facilities, often in the same area as the hotel's parking facilities. However, bicycle storage options vary by hotel, so we strongly recommend contacting your hotel before arrival if secure bicycle storage is important for your trip.
To protect the hotel, other guests, and your bicycle, bicycles cannot be taken to guest rooms.
"I'm visiting Amsterdam specifically for a cycling holiday. Is XO Hotels suitable for cyclists?"
Yes. Several XO Hotels offer bicycle-friendly facilities, bicycle rental options, and locations close to Amsterdam's extensive cycling network.
"Can I store my e-bike safely during my stay?"
Although parking is at your own risk, you can park your e-bike in the parking garage of the hotels having one.
Because storage facilities differ by location, it is best to contact your hotel before arrival if you are bringing an e-bike. The team can advise you about the available parking options and any practical considerations.
"I have a racing bike worth several thousand euros. Can I keep it in my room?"
No. Bicycles are not permitted in hotel rooms, regardless of their value. This is part of the hotel's house rules and applies to all guests.
If secure storage is important to you, we recommend contacting the hotel before booking or before arrival to discuss the available bicycle parking facilities.
"Is bicycle storage monitored or guaranteed secure?"
As with any parking facility, guests remain responsible for their own bicycles.
We recommend always locking your bicycle, even when using hotel storage facilities. If you are travelling with a particularly valuable bicycle, bringing your own high-quality lock is strongly advised.
"Can I leave my bicycle at the hotel while I spend the day sightseeing?"
Usually yes. Many cyclists use the hotel as a convenient base while exploring Amsterdam. Depending on the hotel, bicycle parking facilities may be available throughout your stay. We recommend confirming the details with your hotel upon arrival.
"Why should I tell the hotel in advance that I'm bringing a bicycle?"
Because bicycle storage facilities differ between XO Hotels locations. By informing the hotel before arrival, the team can tell you exactly what facilities are available and help you avoid surprises when you arrive with your bicycle. This is especially important if you are travelling with multiple bicycles, e-bikes, cargo bikes, or high-value sports bicycles.
At XO Hotels, your comfort, safety, and a healthy night’s sleep are just as important to us as they are to you. That’s why all our hotels are 100% smoke‑free. This is more than just a rule – it’s our promise to you that your room will smell fresh and that the air quality and textiles meet the highest standards.
What does this mean for you?
Perfect freshness: Whether you have a sensitive nose or are traveling with children, you can trust that no one has smoked in your room – not cigarettes, e‑cigarettes, or vapes. Our smoke detectors are highly sensitive, and we strictly enforce our no‑smoking policy to guarantee this fresh environment.
Where can smokers go?
We understand that smokers need a place, too. While smoking is strictly forbidden indoors, you are welcome to smoke outside on the public street. Please note that smoking directly at the entrance is not allowed, so that non‑smokers can enter the hotel without smoke exposure. Our reception staff will be happy to show you the nearest outdoor smoking area.
Why the €200 fine and immediate eviction without refund?
This measure is not meant to scare you but to protect our standards for the next guest. Deep cleaning a room after smoke damage is a costly process, and we want to prevent the next guest from having to experience residual odors.
In short: we keep the air inside clean and fresh for everyone.
Are you a smoker? We simply ask you to step outside – the Amsterdam air is fresh enough for that!
Tip: Our hotels aim to offer a comfortable, peaceful, and pleasant stay for all guests. Therefore, it is not allowed to possess, smoke, or use drugs in our hotels. The same rules apply as for smoking cigarettes, cigars, vapes, or e‑cigarettes.
We understand Amsterdam’s international reputation for openness, but our hotels are deliberately not places where drug use is part of the experience.
This way, we can continue to provide a fresh, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone who stays with us.
Can the windows be opened at XO Hotels in Amsterdam?
We understand that being able to open a window is important for many guests to enjoy a comfortable stay and a good night’s rest. As XO Hotels operates in various types of buildings — from modern properties to historic premises — this may differ per hotel and per room.
Windows and ventilation at XO Hotels – how does it work?
Room ventilation
In most of our hotel rooms, windows can be safely opened slightly for fresh air. In rooms where windows cannot be opened due to safety regulations, noise protection, or building design, a modern ventilation system is installed. This system provides a continuous supply of filtered, fresh outdoor air 24 hours a day.
Climate control
Every room in every XO Hotel features its own climate control unit, allowing you to set the temperature between 19 °C and 24 °C for both heating and cooling. This ensures a pleasant room environment, even when windows cannot be opened.
Sharing your preference
Is having a window that can be opened important to you? Please let us know after making your reservation. Send us an email at info@xohotels.com with your booking number and hotel name. We will register your request as a priority preference in our system.
Our promise
Room allocation is always subject to availability and therefore cannot be fully guaranteed. However, we will do our utmost to assign you a room that matches your preference for fresh air and comfort.
In short
XO Hotels offers comfortable rooms at various locations in Amsterdam with excellent ventilation, climate control, and – in many cases – windows that can be opened. This makes XO Hotels a great choice for guests who value safety, fresh air, and a restful night’s sleep.

Looking for a good hotel in Amsterdam with reliable Wi‑Fi?
At XO Hotels, we consider a stable internet connection a basic essential. That’s why all our hotels offer free Wi‑Fi with full coverage – in public areas such as the lobby and reception, as well as in every guest room. This makes XO Hotels the ideal choice for both business and leisure travellers who want to stay connected at all times.
What can you expect from the Wi‑Fi at XO Hotels?
Speed and stability
Our network is designed to support the simultaneous needs of all guests. Whether you’re working, planning your trip, video‑calling, or streaming your favourite series, the available bandwidth is optimized for it.
Simple and quick access
No forms or registrations are required. Upon arrival, you’ll receive the current Wi‑Fi login details at the reception, allowing you to connect immediately.
Unlimited use
There is no data limit or hidden fees. You can connect multiple devices at once without any additional steps.
Network security
To ensure the safety, speed, and reliability of the network for all guests, certain types of VPN connections are restricted. This helps us maintain a secure and stable connection for everyone.
Our tip for business travellers
If you need an extra‑stable connection for your work, we recommend using the lounge area, which is located closer to the access points. Our reception team will be happy to assist you with any Wi‑Fi questions related to your specific room.
In short
XO Hotels is one of the best hotel choices in Amsterdam for guests who value free, fast, and reliable Wi‑Fi – whether you’re working or simply relaxing.
No. For fire safety reasons, candles, incense, sparklers, and other flammable materials are not allowed in any XO Hotels room or public area.
Confetti, glitter, and similar decorations are also not permitted. These materials can create excessive cleaning requirements, damage equipment, and negatively affect the experience of future guests.
If you are planning a special occasion and would like to decorate your room, please contact reception in advance to discuss which decorations are permitted.
"I'm celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or surprise trip. Can I decorate my room?"
Usually yes, but not with everything. We understand that many guests want to make a stay feel special. However, decorations that create a fire risk, trigger smoke alarms, leave permanent marks, or require extensive cleaning are not allowed.
This means that candles, tea lights, glitter, confetti, confetti cannons, sparklers, and similar items are prohibited.
If you are unsure whether a decoration is allowed, simply ask reception before using it. We would rather answer a quick question than have your celebration interrupted because something violates the hotel's safety rules.
"Can I bring birthday candles for a cake?"
No. Even small birthday candles create an open flame and are therefore not permitted in the hotel. Fire safety rules apply to all guests and all rooms.
"Can I use candles to create a romantic atmosphere?"
No. While we understand the appeal of candlelight, open flames present a fire risk and are not allowed in hotel rooms. For safety reasons, all candles and similar items are prohibited.
"Can I decorate the room with balloons, banners, or other party decorations?"
Often yes, but it depends on the decoration. Simple decorations such as balloons or banners are generally less problematic than glitter, confetti, or anything involving flames. If you are planning a surprise, reception can advise you in advance about what is permitted.
"Why is glitter not allowed? It's only a decoration."
Glitter may seem harmless, but it is extremely difficult to remove completely from carpets, furniture, bedding, and ventilation systems. It can affect future guests and significantly increase cleaning requirements.
For this reason, glitter, confetti, and similar decorative materials are not permitted.
"I already packed candles or confetti. What should I do?"
Please do not use them in the hotel. If you are unsure whether a decoration is allowed, speak with reception before setting it up. This can help you avoid disappointment, additional cleaning charges, or violating the hotel's house rules.
"Why are the rules about candles so strict?"
Because hotels contain hundreds of guests sleeping under one roof. A single unattended flame can endanger not only the room where it is used, but also other guests and staff. The candle ban is therefore not about decoration—it is about protecting everyone in the building.
All hotels (except XO Hotels Infinity) have public computers that can be used free of charge.
None of our hotels offer laundry service.
First of all: congratulations!
You can check our Extras-page for info on the extras and packages we offer.
The hotels are all located near various shops, including supermarkets.
You can rent a bicycle for €18 per day. At XO Hotels City Centre it is not possible to rent a bicycle.
We work with the tour company Tours&Tickets and can book all excursions offered by them. On our Tours&Excursions-page you can find more information about the excursions.
This is possible if payment or signature is not required upon receipt. Please let us know in advance that you will send this to us. Please state clearly on the envelope/package for whom it is intended and the date of arrival of the guest.
You can always enter the hotel, so you do not have to return at a certain time. You can ring the door bell to let the reception open the door for you.
Hotel Artemis, Hotel Levell, XO Hotels Blue Square, Couture and Park West have their own underground parking (paid service).
We do not have bus parking available. For information regarding parking for busses you can have a look at the tourbuzz website.
Of course! The reception will be happy to call a taxi for you.
Yes, all our hotels serve breakfast in the form of a breakfast buffet with both hot and cold options. For current details per location (times, price, offering), it is best to check the page of the specific hotel.
Is the breakfast worth the money, or would I be better off getting something outside? That is, of course, a personal question, although we believe our breakfast is worth the money. The breakfast buffet is designed so that you are all set in one go: wide choice, no searching for a café, and you don't lose time in the morning rush hour. Especially if you have an early tour, flight, or meeting, it provides peace of mind to be able to have breakfast right in the hotel instead of having to search for something "reasonable" nearby.
I have dietary requirements (gluten-free, vegetarian, halal, lactose-free). Can I still have breakfast with you? We take different dietary preferences and restrictions into account in the buffet, but some products must be requested in advance. If you have specific requirements, please check our Breakfast Page and let us know your wishes by email before arrival, so the team can prepare specifically and you don't encounter any surprises.

Our hotels do not serve lunch.
Our hotels do not serve dinner.
Our hotels do not have a bar.
Our hotels are completely non-alcoholic. It is allowed to bring your own alcoholic drinks and drink these in your hotel room.
The standard check‑out time for our rooms is 11:00 a.m. We kindly ask you to respect this time so our housekeeping teams can prepare the rooms in time for the next guests arriving from 3:00 p.m. onward.
If you are unable to check out before 11:00 a.m. for any reason, an additional fee will apply.
Late check‑out
Would you like to use your room for a bit longer? Our hotels offer the option of a late check‑out, subject to the following terms:
Availability: A late check‑out is always subject to availability and can be requested either the night before or on the morning of your departure. Simply ask reception to extend your key. Booking a late check‑out in advance offers extra peace of mind.
Rate: For this added comfort, we charge €10 per hour, and the stay can be extended until a maximum of 2 PM
After 2 PM: If you wish to stay in your room beyond2 PM, one additional night will be charged at the current rate.
Luggage after 11 AM:
If a late check‑out is not possible or you prefer to explore the city, you can store your luggage free of charge in our secure luggage room. This allows you to enjoy your day in Amsterdam while we prepare your room for the next guest.
Tip: When booking online on our website or during check‑in, you can already add a late check‑out to your reservation. This ensures you can stay longer, and your room key will already be valid until the new check‑out time.
Are you enjoying your stay with us or not quite finished exploring Amsterdam?
You can extend your stay based on current availability. To make the process as smooth as possible and to avoid unnecessary room changes, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Check room availability at reception
Before making a new booking, please visit the reception. Our team can instantly check if your current room is available for the following night(s). This way, you won’t need to pack or move.
Step 2: Make your booking online
Once reception has confirmed that your room is available, please complete your reservation through our official website. This ensures you receive the best and most up‑to‑date rate, the correct booking conditions, and a properly processed extension.
Step 3: Mention your current room number
When finalizing your online booking, please include your current room number in the “Comments” field. This allows our system to link your new reservation directly to your ongoing stay, and your room key can be updated at reception.
Tip: By following these steps, you keep full control over your booking, and we make sure your key is correctly updated for your extended stay.
You may decide to check out earlier than planned at any time. However, according to our general terms and conditions, early departure does not entitle you to a refund for the remaining nights. You can refer to the booking conditions you accepted at the time of your reservation for full details.
How does this work in practice?
Check your booking conditions: Did you book a “Non‑Refundable” rate? In that case, the full stay amount remains due in the event of an early departure. For flexible rates, specific cancellation terms apply (for example, 24 or 48 hours before the arrival date).
Where did you make your booking? This is crucial for how it’s handled.
Directly with XO Hotels: We can immediately check your reservation in our system and process the cancellation according to the applicable terms.
Through an (online) booking platform or travel agency (such as Booking.com or Expedia): We cannot modify your booking or access the terms of your reservation; please contact them directly.
Always visit the reception: Whatever the reason for your early departure, please inform our team at the reception personally. They can officially release your room in the system and, if necessary, store your luggage until your actual departure.
We apply these terms to keep our pricing fair and transparent, and we are happy to assist you in ensuring the process is handled correctly.
Tip: Always consider purchasing travel and cancellation insurance. This allows you to claim costs in case of unforeseen circumstances beyond your or the hotel’s control.
You can safely store your luggage free of charge at your booked XO Hotel on both your arrival and departure day. This allows you to enjoy Amsterdam without having to carry your suitcases or leave them in your car.
How we ensure safety and efficiency:
Secure storage: Your luggage is not kept in the lobby but in a separate, locked storage room accessible only to our staff. Although leaving personal belongings is at your own risk, access for unauthorized persons is strictly limited.
Immediate availability: Our reception is staffed 24 hours a day. You can drop off or collect your luggage at any time—there are no fixed hours.
Longer storage: If you are spending a few days outside the city and returning later for another stay at one of our hotels, you may, in consultation with the reception, leave your luggage with us. This depends on the available storage space at that time.
Our focus is on fast and efficient handling, so you can continue your travels without delay while your belongings are safely stored.
Tip: This free service is available for all our hotel guests. It’s ideal if your room isn’t ready yet upon arrival or if you aren’t leaving Amsterdam immediately after check‑out—perhaps to visit a museum or because your flight departs later in the evening.
Of course! The reception will be happy to call a taxi for you.
We understand that having a correct invoice is essential for your administration or expense claims. There’s nothing more inconvenient than having to call after departure to change details, so we aim to make the invoicing process as clear as possible for you.
How to receive the correct invoice for your stay
Did you book directly with us? Then we will gladly arrange everything for you. When making your reservation, please include your company details in the comments field so we can add them to your booking. You will receive your invoice upon check‑out or by email.
Did you book through another (online) travel agency or booking website?
In that case, your payment was made to them, not to our hotel. According to legal regulations, the company that receives the payment is responsible for issuing the invoice. Therefore, you should request your invoice from the respective website. We can, however, provide you with a proof of stay, though not an official VAT invoice.
Can an invoice be changed afterwards?
We always do our best to prepare your invoice correctly from the start. If an adjustment is still needed, our reception team will gladly help you, depending on the booking method.
Would you like full control over your invoicing and the guarantee that we can adjust everything for you directly?
Then always book through our own website. You will benefit from direct contact, personalized service for your administration, and of course the best available deal.
Tip: If you would like your company name on the invoice, please provide us with the company name and address either before or at check‑in. This way, your invoice will be ready on your departure day, and you can continue your travels without delay.
We completely understand that moment of panic when you realize you’ve left something behind after check‑out. Don’t worry — at XO Hotels, we have a clear and fair process for handling lost and found items. Our housekeeping teams carefully inspect every room after departure, and any item found is immediately logged and securely stored before being taken to reception.
What should you do now?
You can reach us by email or phone. Please include your room number, the dates of your stay, and a detailed description of the item (and, if possible, where you think you left it).
Our search process:
As soon as we receive your message, we cross‑check it with our lost‑and‑found database. We will always reply — even if we haven’t found the item yet.
Getting your item back:
If we have your item, we’ll keep it safe for you. You’re welcome to collect it in person, or we can send it to you. We use a reliable courier service with tracking, so shipping and handling costs apply. We’ll inform you in advance about the process and costs, so there are no surprises.
Your belongings are in safe hands with us. We’ll do our utmost to reunite you with your item.
Tip: Before you leave, take a last look through the cupboards and bathroom -don't forget the safe- to ensure you don’t leave anything behind.
At XO Hotels, we don’t see a complaint as criticism, but as an opportunity to make your stay perfect after all.
We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to speak up, but we promise: we listen and we take action.
How can we help you most efficiently?
Are you currently in the hotel? Please come to us directly. Our reception team is not only here for check‑in; they are your first point of contact for any issue. Whether it’s a technical problem in your room, a question about housekeeping, or another concern — tell us right away. We can solve 99% of problems on the spot. Your comfort and enjoyment are too valuable to wait until you’re back home.
Already checked out?
We’re sincerely sorry, as we would have loved to resolve the issue during your stay. In that case, please send us a message as soon as possible via email.
We use your feedback internally to improve our services and make sure everything goes smoothly on your next visit.
Our promise: We treat every comment with respect and professionalism. You are never a “difficult guest” — you are a guest helping us to improve.
Tip: We’re happy to assist you quickly and effectively during your stay, so we can solve any inconvenience immediately. Complaints reported after departure may affect how we are able to handle them, including possible compensation.
You can find more information in the XO Hotels Terms & Conditions under “Complaints.”
We understand that equipment glitches or sudden technical problems can ruin a comfortable hotel stay, and nobody wants to spend their holiday waiting around for maintenance.
We prioritize live guest comfort above all else. When you report a maintenance issue, our 24/7 reception team acts immediately. For quick fixes (like resetting climate controls, replacing bulbs, or TV settings), our on-duty staff will resolve it right away.
If the issue requires major technical repairs that cannot be fixed promptly, we will relocate you to an equivalent or upgraded room category immediately (subject to availability). You will never be left stranded in an uncomfortable or non-functioning room overnight—just let us know the moment you notice an issue!
“If the heating or plumbing malfunctions at 1:00 AM, is there someone available to help me, or do I have to wait until morning?”
Answer: Our reception desks are staffed 24/7, every day of the year. Night staff are trained to handle emergency maintenance fixes or arrange an immediate room move so you can get a peaceful night's rest without delay, subject to availability. (subject to the time of the day the request is done immediately)
“Can I report a maintenance request without coming down to the front desk?”
Answer: Yes! You can call to the hotel reception number provided on your check-in card/in-room display or call reception directly using your room telephone. Our team will coordinate access and update you promptly.
If you experience any issue with your room (such as temperature control, maintenance needs, cleanliness, or missing amenities), please inform our front desk team immediately. Our reception desks are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or you can call us. Reporting the issue right away gives our team the opportunity to fix the problem promptly or move you to a different room if necessary.
“If something isn't right with my room, will the staff dismiss my complaint, or will I be forced to suffer through an uncomfortable stay?”
We understand how frustrating it is when a room detail falls short of expectations—especially when you just want to relax after a long day of travel. Nobody wants to feel ignored or unassisted during their stay.
We want to resolve any issue for you instantly. However, we can only fix what we know about! If you notice something wrong, please do not wait until check-out to tell us.
Our 24/7 reception team is empowered to take immediate action: whether that means sending maintenance to fix heating or Wi-Fi, having housekeeping re-clean an area, supplying extra amenities, or offering a room change if the issue cannot be resolved on the spot. Your comfort is our top priority, and a quick message or visit to reception gives us the chance to make things right immediately. (subject to the time of the day the request is done immediately)
“I noticed a problem with my room late at night. Is reception open to fix it, or do I have to wait until morning?”
Our reception desks are open and fully staffed 24 hours a day. Whether it is 2:00 PM or 2:00 AM, you can call reception from your in-room phone, walk down to the desk and a team member will assist you immediately. (subject to the time of the day the request is done immediately)
“Can I request a refund after my stay if I experienced a problem with my room that I didn't report to reception?”
Answer: Because our team operates 24/7 specifically to resolve room issues during your stay, we cannot offer retroactive compensation or refunds after check-out for problems that were not reported while you were at the hotel. Always let us know during your stay so we can make it right for you in real time.
If you experience an issue or service disruption, please report it to our reception team immediately during your stay. Our primary focus is to resolve any problem on the spot—whether through immediate repair, room changes, or service adjustments. If a problem cannot be rectified during your stay and significantly impacted your experience, you can submit a formal complaint in writing to management. Any eligible compensation or remedies are reviewed on a case-by-case basis in accordance with our general terms and conditions.
“If something goes wrong during my stay, will the hotel just brush me off with a generic apology, or do you take financial and operational responsibility?”
We take full responsibility for delivering the stay you paid for. We do not hide behind empty apologies or push issues aside. Here is how we handle problems transparently and fairly:
Our first promise is action. When you bring an issue to our attention, our 24/7 team will inspect it, fix it, or move you to another room immediately so your stay isn't compromised.
If a major facility or service failure could not be resolved during your stay despite being reported, our Manager will evaluate the situation fairly.
Important: Report it while you are here: Our official policy requires complaints to be reported while you are at the hotel so we have the opportunity to make it right immediately. Written claims submitted after departure are evaluated based on timestamped records logged by our front desk team during your stay.
“What happens if a core amenity in my room stops working and cannot be fixed during the night?”
If a crucial room feature (such as heating, air conditioning, hot water, or keyless access) fails and cannot be repaired or resolved via a room transfer, we acknowledge the inconvenience directly.
The Manager will review the incident report and will inform you as soon as possible.
“What if the issue is minor, like a brief WiFi disruption or a short delay at check-in? Will I be compensated?”
For minor or temporary inconveniences that are quickly resolved, compensation is not issued.
Yes, if there is an unresolvable problem with your room (such as a persistent maintenance issue, cleanliness concern, or severe noise disruption), or you do not like to room given, you can request a room change at the front desk. Our reception is open 24/7, and our team will inspect the issue immediately. If we cannot fix the problem promptly in your current room, we will gladly move you to an available alternative room the next morning.
“If I am unhappy with my room or face an issue, will staff refuse to move me or charge me extra fees to change rooms?”
We understand how uncomfortable it is to stay in a room where something isn't right, and nobody wants to feel stuck in a space they don't enjoy.
There are no extra costs involved for changing rooms. Our 24/7 front desk team is empowered to resolve guest concerns on the spot. If the issue cannot be resolved quickly by housekeeping or maintenance, we will move you to another clean, fully functioning room of the same category free of charge. If an equivalent room is not available, we will let you move to another room the next morning.
To ensure we can help, please report any concern to reception as soon as you notice it, as room moves are subject to overall hotel availability on that day.
“What if there is nothing technically broken, but I would prefer a higher floor or a different bed setup after checking in?”
If you simply prefer a different room location or layout, visit reception. While maintenance/quality issues take priority, our team will happily check live availability to move you to a preferred room if one is available, or the next morning of course.
“If I discover an issue with my room late at night, can reception still move me to a different room?”
Yes, our front desk is staffed 24 hours a day. Night receptionists have full access to available rooms and can issue you new keycards and complete a room transfer immediately at any hour, if available. If not, you are required to come to the reception in the morning to see what options we have.
Yes, absolutely. XO Hotels maintains a strict quiet policy to ensure all guests enjoy a peaceful rest. If you experience excessive noise from neighbouring rooms, hallways, or climate control units, please contact the front desk immediately. Our reception desk is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our team will send a staff member to address noisy guests promptly, adjust or inspect climate control units, or relocate you to a quieter room if the noise cannot be resolved, if available.
“If other guests are making noise late at night, will the hotel actually enforce quiet hours, or will I be forced to endure a sleepless night?”
We understand how frustrating noise disruptions are when you need to sleep, and nobody wants to feel uncomfortable confronting noisy neighbours directly.
You never have to handle noise issues yourself. XO Hotels operates a zero-tolerance policy for night-time noise disruptions. When you report excessive noise to reception, our 24/7 team takes immediate action.
“I am a very light sleeper. What is the fastest way to report noise late at night without leaving my bed?”
Answer: Simply call the front desk directly using your in-room telephone and call the hotel's reception number provided on your keycard folder. A staff member will respond and investigate the issue immediately.
“The air conditioning in my room is making a humming or rattling sound. Can it be turned off or fixed?”
Yes. You can adjust fan speeds directly via the wall thermostat in your room. If the unit is rattling or making unusual mechanical sounds, inform reception—our team will inspect it right away or provide a room change if maintenance cannot resolve the sound on the spot, if available.
If the television in your room is not working properly, please contact reception. Our team is available 24 hours a day and will help troubleshoot the issue or arrange assistance from our technical team.
Sometimes the solution is simple, such as selecting the correct source, restarting the television, or checking the remote control batteries. If the problem cannot be resolved immediately, we will do our best to find an appropriate solution during your stay.
"The TV isn't working. Am I going to spend my holiday waiting for maintenance?"
No. If you experience a problem with your television, report it to reception as soon as possible. The sooner we know about an issue, the sooner we can try to fix it.
While technical equipment can occasionally fail despite regular maintenance, our goal is always to resolve reported problems as quickly as possible. Depending on the nature of the issue, this may involve troubleshooting, replacing equipment, or arranging technical support.
If the issue cannot be fixed immediately, reception will discuss the available options with you.
Don't worry. Simply visit reception, and a member of our team will help you regain access to your room.
For security reasons, we will first verify that you are the registered guest for the room. You may be asked to show identification or answer a few questions about your reservation before a replacement key card is issued.
Reception is available 24 hours a day, so assistance is available whether it happens at breakfast time or in the middle of the night.
"I've locked myself out of my room. Will I be charged or get into trouble?"
No. Accidentally locking yourself out of your room is one of the most common situations hotels deal with.
Key cards can be left in the room, misplaced, demagnetised, or accidentally taken by another member of your travel party. Our team helps guests with these situations every day.
In most cases, reception can quickly issue a new key card after confirming your identity. The priority is getting you back into your room safely and securely.
"It's 2:00 AM and I've locked myself out. Is anyone available to help?"
Yes. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day. No matter what time it happens, you can visit reception and a team member will assist you.
Many guests worry about being stranded in a corridor late at night, but help is available around the clock.
If you have lost your room key card, please visit reception as soon as possible. A member of our team can deactivate the missing key card and issue a replacement after verifying that you are the registered guest.
Reception is available 24 hours a day, so you can get help immediately, regardless of the time. Bring your ID card with you and we will assist you immedatiately.
For your security, we recommend reporting a lost key card as soon as you notice it is missing.
"I've lost my room key. Can someone now enter my room?"
Probably not, but you should report the loss immediately.
Many guests worry that whoever finds the key card will automatically know which room it belongs to. Our XO Hotels key cards do not display the room number for security reasons.
More importantly, once you report the missing key card, reception can deactivate it and issue a new one. This means the lost card will no longer provide access to your room.
Your safety and peace of mind are the reasons we encourage guests to notify reception as soon as they realise a key card is missing.
"I lost my key card somewhere in Amsterdam. Should I be worried about my luggage and valuables?"
The first step is to inform reception immediately. Once reported, the missing key card can be deactivated and replaced.
While it is unlikely that someone could connect an anonymous hotel key card to a specific room, reporting the loss quickly is the best way to ensure your room remains secure.
"I just realised I've lost my key card and it's midnight. Can someone still help me?"
Yes. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day, so you can obtain assistance whenever you discover the problem.
After confirming your identity and reservation details, a replacement key card can usually be issued quickly so you can return to your room.
Please contact reception immediately. XO Hotels has a 24-hour reception, and our team is available day and night to assist guests who feel unsafe, uncomfortable, threatened, harassed, unwell, or concerned about something happening in or around the hotel.
You do not need to handle the situation on your own. Whether the issue involves another guest, a visitor, unusual behaviour, excessive noise, a safety concern, or simply a situation that does not feel right, please let us know as soon as possible so we can help.
If there is an immediate emergency or danger, call the Dutch emergency services on 112 and notify reception at the same time.
"I don't want to make a fuss, but something doesn't feel right. Should I still tell reception?"
Yes. Many guests hesitate to report concerns because they are unsure whether the situation is serious enough. They may worry about overreacting, causing trouble, or being embarrassed if it turns out to be nothing.
We would much rather hear about a concern that turns out to be harmless than discover later that a guest felt uncomfortable and did not know who to tell.
You do not need proof that something is wrong before contacting reception. If a person, situation, or incident makes you feel unsafe or uneasy, please let us know. Our team can assess the situation and determine whether any action is needed.
"I am travelling alone and another guest is making me uncomfortable. What should I do?"
Contact reception immediately. You should never feel pressured to tolerate unwanted attention, inappropriate behaviour, intimidation, or repeated contact from another guest. Our team can listen to your concerns, assess the situation, and take appropriate action where necessary.
Your comfort and safety are important, whether the behaviour occurs in the lobby, elevator, corridors, breakfast area, or elsewhere in the hotel.
"Someone is making me feel uncomfortable, but they haven't technically done anything wrong. Can I still ask for help?"
Yes. Feeling unsafe is not always about clear violations or obvious threats. Sometimes a person's behaviour, comments, persistence, or presence can make you uncomfortable even if no specific rule has been broken.
If something feels wrong, trust your instincts and speak to reception. Our team will take your concerns seriously and help determine the best course of action.
"My child feels frightened or uncomfortable because of something that happened in the hotel. Who can help?"
Please contact reception immediately. Whether the concern involves another guest, an interaction in a public area, a safety issue, or simply something that upset your child, our team will do its best to assist and help your family feel comfortable during your stay.
"What if another guest is behaving aggressively, harassing me, or making discriminatory comments?"
Report the situation to reception as soon as possible. Every guest deserves to be treated with respect. The hotel does not tolerate threatening, abusive, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour. By informing reception promptly, you give us the opportunity to investigate the situation and take appropriate action.
"I don't feel comfortable in my room. Can I speak to someone?"
Absolutely. Whether your concern relates to security, privacy, noise, another guest, an unexpected incident, or simply a feeling that something is wrong, please contact reception. The sooner we understand your concern, the sooner we can explore possible solutions with you.
"What if I report something and it turns out to be nothing?"
That is completely okay. Our team would rather investigate a concern that turns out to have an innocent explanation than have a guest spend hours feeling worried, uncomfortable, or unsafe.
If something is bothering you, please tell us. You are never wasting our time by reporting a genuine concern about your safety, wellbeing, or comfort.
"What if I am in immediate danger or need urgent medical or police assistance?"
Call 112 immediately from your room. This is the national emergency number in the Netherlands for police, ambulance, and fire services. Once emergency services have been contacted, notify reception so we can assist emergency responders in reaching you as quickly as possible.
Your safety always comes first.
Please contact reception immediately if you believe an item is missing from your room.
The sooner we are informed, the sooner we can investigate what may have happened. Our team can help verify whether the item may have been misplaced, handed in as a found item, moved during housekeeping or left in a safe. Many "missing item" reports are ultimately resolved in one of these ways.
When reporting the issue, please provide as much information as possible, including:
A description of the item.
When you last saw it.
Where it was kept.
Whether it may have been stored in the room safe.
Whether anyone else had access to the room.
The more information you can provide, the easier it is for us to investigate.
I think something was stolen from my room. Will the hotel take me seriously?
Yes. We understand that discovering a missing item can be upsetting and stressful. If you believe something has disappeared from your room, please report it immediately rather than waiting until after departure.
Our team will listen to your concerns, review the available information, and advise you to file a report at the police, which can be done online too. We do not assume what happened before reviewing the facts. Sometimes items are misplaced, packed unintentionally, left elsewhere in the hotel, or found after a more detailed search. In other cases, additional investigation by police may be required.
Reporting concerns during your stay gives the hotel the best opportunity to help you while information is still fresh and relevant. XO Hotels also encourages guests to use the in-room safe for passports, cash, jewelry, electronics, and other valuables whenever they leave the room.
"My cash, passport, jewelry, or electronics are missing. What should I do first?"
Contact reception immediately. Avoid assuming what happened until the facts have been reviewed. Before reporting the issue, carefully check:
The room safe, suitcases and bags, jacket pockets, drawers and cupboards.
Areas around, in and under the bed and bathroom.
If the item remains missing, reception can assist you with the next steps such as where the nearest police station is located. XO Hotels recommends storing valuables in the room safe whenever possible and taking an travel insurance to cover in such situations.
"I don't want to accuse anyone unfairly. Can I still report a missing item?"
Absolutely. You do not need to accuse anyone in order to report a concern. Simply explain what is missing and why you believe it may have disappeared.
Our role is to gather information and review the situation. Reporting a concern is not the same as making an accusation. It simply allows us to review what may have happened and assist you appropriately.
"I only realised something was missing after I left the hotel. Can I still contact you?"
Yes. Please contact the hotel as soon as possible and provide details of the missing item, your room number, and the dates of your stay.
Housekeeping teams inspect rooms after departure, and any items found are logged and stored securely as lost property. If the item has been found, the hotel can discuss options for returning it to you.
"How can I protect my valuables during my stay?"
Every XO Hotels room includes a safe that guests can use free of charge. The safe is protected by your personal code and is designed for items such as passports, cash, jewelry, and laptops. The safest place for valuable items when you are away from the room is inside the room safe.
"Should I contact the police if I believe something has been stolen?"
If you genuinely believe a theft has occurred, you have the right to contact the police and file a report. The hotel will cooperate with lawful requests from the authorities where appropriate. Reception can also explain the information that may be available and assist you with practical guidance during the process.
"What is the most important thing I should do if I think something is missing?"
Report it immediately. The sooner reception is informed, the greater the opportunity to review the situation while you are still at the hotel. Waiting until weeks or months after your stay can make it much more difficult to determine what happened or recover a missing item.
Our advice is simple: if something seems wrong, tell us right away. We'd much rather assist you with a concern that turns out to have a simple explanation than discover later that a guest left feeling worried and unsupported.
Yes, if you are unsatisfied with your room for any reason, please speak to our front desk team as soon as possible. Our reception is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we will do our best to resolve the issue or transfer you to an alternative room of equal or higher category, subject to live hotel availability.
“If I am unhappy with my room layout or location, will the hotel charge me an extra fee or dismiss my request if nothing is technically broken?”
We understand that personal comfort is subjective—whether it is bed configuration, floor height, street exposure, or room layout, everyone has different preferences for a comfortable stay.
You do not need a major maintenance breakdown to request a room change. If you are unhappy with your assigned room, visit reception right away.
If there is a technical or cleanliness issue, we will move you free of charge. If you simply prefer a different room orientation or setup, our 24/7 reception team will gladly check our live inventory to find an available alternative that better suits your taste. If an equivalent room is not available, we can also discuss upgrading you to a larger room category for a small rate difference. To get the best alternative options, please inform us as early in your stay as possible!
“I requested two separate beds, but my room has one double bed. Can I be moved immediately?”
If available, yes! Bed configuration mismatches are prioritized by our front desk. Inform reception upon arrival, and our team will check if we can transfer you to a twin-bed room straight away, subject to availability.
“My room faces a busy street and I prefer a quieter space. Can I move to an inner courtyard or high-floor room?”
Visit reception as soon as you enter the room. Our front desk staff will check same-day room availability and relocate you to a quieter inner room or higher floor whenever space permits.
While our front desk hosts are fully empowered to handle most guest requests, payments, and immediate issues on the spot, you can request to speak directly with a manager. However, we do not offer a manager 24/7, so please ask reception if the manager is arround. If not, you will be asked to mail your question or feedback to the reception. Depending on the question, the manager will be asked for assistance or a reply directly, so that you do not have to wait too long for an answer.
“If I have a serious complaint or special request, will front desk staff dismiss me or brush me off instead of letting me talk to someone with real decision-making authority?”
No. We take guest concerns seriously, and you will never be stonewalled or dismissed.
Our management structure and service policies ensure your voice is heard and acted upon:
Our front desk team is trained and authorized to resolve most room changes, service adjustments, or minor disputes immediately without needing manager sign-off—meaning you often get a solution faster than waiting for a meeting.
If you feel a situation requires managerial attention or isn't being handled to your satisfaction, simply ask the front desk host to escalate the matter to the Manager. If on duty, they will step in right away; if off-site, they can be reached by email.
For complex matters requiring General Management review, our team will document your request, we will ensure a manager contacts you directly via email as soon as possible.
“What happens if I encounter an issue with my room late at night when the main office is closed?”
You do not have to wait until morning to get help. Our 24/7 front desk team has night supervisors who hold operational manager authority overnight. Whether it is an urgent maintenance issue, noise disturbance, or key card issue, our overnight duty team can authorize room moves, issue immediate fixes, or dispatch on-call support without delay. Of course not everything can be solved in the night.
“I am managing a group or corporate account and need to discuss contract terms or special billing arrangements. Who handles this?”
For administrative, group booking, or billing discussions that go beyond daily hotel operations, you can request to speak with Central Reservations & Sales Management team. If they are not immediately on the floor during your check-in, our reception will provide their direct email contact or schedule a dedicated call during office hours (Monday to Friday) to resolve your request smoothly.
Yes, our 24/7 front desk team is empowered and trained to resolve most guest requests and room issues on the spot. Whether you need extra amenities, a maintenance check, a room change, or assistance with hotel technology, our staff can address your needs immediately upon notification. For more complex requests, we initiate action right away and provide you with a clear timeline for resolution.
“If something is wrong with my room, will I be forced to wait hours or hear excuses like 'there's nothing we can do until tomorrow'?”
No. We measure our service by how fast we put things right. You will never be left waiting endlessly or given empty promises.
When you report an issue, here is our immediate action plan:
As soon as you contact the front desk, a team member will either fix the issue on the spot (e.g., extra bedding, key card reset, WiFi support) or inspect the problem in your room within minutes.
If a technical or maintenance issue (such as air conditioning, plumbing, or lock malfunction) cannot be repaired immediately, we will try to get it fixed within 12-24 hours. If that is not possible or not desirable, we will move you to an equivalent or upgraded room right away, subject to availability.
Our front desk hosts have full authority to make immediate decisions—such as issuing room changes—without waiting for upper management approval.
“What if an issue occurs at 1:00 AM when engineering or housekeeping staff are off duty?”
You receive the exact same rapid support at night as you do during the day. Our 24/7 front desk and night supervisor team have full access to spare room inventory, backup linen, extra amenities, and emergency maintenance protocols. If something cannot be fixed overnight, we will ask you to wait till tomorrow morning or, if available, move you to a fully prepared room immediately so your sleep is not disrupted.
“I have a flight to catch or a meeting in an hour. What if I don't have time to wait for a technician to visit my room?”
We respect your time above all else. If you are on a tight schedule, simply inform the front desk. Instead of asking you to wait for a technician or inspection, we will immediately fast-track your resolution—whether that means issuing a swift room move, storing your luggage safely while you are out, or prioritizing your room for immediate service while you attend your meeting.
If you notice any cleanliness issues upon entering or during your stay, please notify the front desk immediately. Our 24/7 front desk team will send a housekeeping supervisor or staff member to inspect and re-clean your room right away. If the cleaning standard cannot be met to your satisfaction immediately, we will offer to move you to a fully inspected, clean room, subject to availability.
“If I report an uncleaned room or dirty linen, will staff just apologize and leave me in an unhygienic room, or will it actually be fixed right then?”
We treat cleanliness as a non-negotiable priority, and an apology alone is never our final answer. You will not be expected to sleep or stay in a room that does not meet high hygiene standards.
Here is how we take immediate responsibility:
When reported during housekeeping hours, a team member will be dispatched to your room within minutes to rectify any missed details (such as fresh linen, bathroom re-sanitization, or bin emptying).
If an issue occurs outside standard housekeeping hours (such as late in the evening) or if you feel uncomfortable staying in the room, our 24/7 front desk team will transfer you to a fresh, fully inspected room immediately, if available.
A duty supervisor will personally inspect the new or re-cleaned room to ensure every detail meets our hygiene benchmarks before handing back your key.
“I have severe dust allergies or asthma. What happens if I notice dust, smoke residue, or strong odors in my room?”
Your health and comfort come first. All XO Hotels rooms are strictly 100% non-smoking. If you detect any faint smoke odor or dust accumulation, inform reception immediately. We will not simply spray air freshener; we will immediately relocate (if available) you to a clean, odor-free room and dispatch deep-cleaning equipment (including air purifiers where available) to treat the affected space.
“What if I discover a cleanliness issue late at night when the regular housekeeping team has already gone home?”
You do not have to wait until morning or endure an uncomfortable night. Our 24/7 overnight team maintains access to fresh linen, guest amenities, extra bedding, and a buffer of vacant, clean rooms. The night team does not have the possibility to come to the room and clean it in the night, since he has safety duties and needs to remain at the reception.
They do however, hold full operational authority to switch your room immediately on the spot so you can get a restful, pristine night's sleep without delay, if available.
Yes. The tap water in XO Hotels' rooms is regular Dutch drinking water, which is strictly and continuously monitored by the water supplier and safe to drink straight from the tap. You don't need to buy bottled water.
I'm staying in a city hotel in an older building. How do I know the water from the tap is really clean and doesn't just look clean?
That is a fair question, because water quality depends on both the supplier and the building's pipes. The water reaching XO Hotels comes from the public network and meets Dutch drinking-water standards. If the water tastes or smells unusual, tell the 24-hour front desk and we will look into it immediately.
"I'm pregnant / travelling with a baby / have a weakened immune system. Is the tap water at XO Hotels safe for me?"
For most guests, including pregnant women, Dutch tap water is safe to drink. If you have a medical condition that requires specific water precautions, we recommend checking with your doctor before you travel.
"I want to avoid plastic bottles. Can I refill my own bottle at XO Hotels?"
Yes, of course you can!
Yes, XO Hotels has trained staff on site 24/7 certified in In-house Emergency Response (BHV) and First Aid (EHBO). Our team members are trained to respond immediately to medical emergencies, including using on-site AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) and providing emergency care. Additionally, all our properties feature comprehensive evacuation procedures, fire safety systems, and direct communication channels with local emergency services (112).
“What if a medical emergency or fire occurs in the middle of the night? Is trained staff actually on site, or am I on my own?”
You are never left to fend for yourself. Our front desks are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by trained team members—our hotels are never left unmanned.
Our front desk staff can immediately contact Dutch emergency services (ambulance, fire, police) and guide first responders straight to your room.
Every guest room and hallway is equipped with advanced smoke detectors, fire compartmentalization, and illuminated escape routes. Our emergency protocols are regularly audited and tested to ensure quick, calm action.
“My travel companion or child has a specific medical condition (e.g., severe allergies, epilepsy, or cardiac issues). What assistance can the hotel provide?”
In an acute emergency, our trained staff will immediately administer first aid, utilize our first aid equipment, or operate the AED while contacting local healthcare services or an ambulance. While our staff cannot prescribe or administer specialized medication, we ensure professional medical help is dispatched without delay.
Tip for your stay: If you carry temperature-sensitive medication, let us know before or during check-in so we can ensure you have access to appropriate cooling facilities.
“I have trouble walking or use a wheelchair. How does the hotel guarantee my safe evacuation during an emergency when elevators are disabled?”
During an emergency alarm, elevators automatically deactivate for safety. Please inform our front desk upon check-in or during booking if you have reduced mobility. Our team logs your room number into our Priority Evacuation Register. In the event of an emergency, our response team and arriving firefighters know your exact room location to ensure you are prioritized for safe assistance down the emergency exits.
Yes, every XO Hotels location is fully equipped with advanced, automated fire detection and alarm systems. Every guest room, hallway, and public space features sensitive optical smoke detectors, emergency sirens, illuminated escape route signages, and hand-operated fire call points. Our fire safety systems are certified, directly linked to central response panels, and undergo strict periodic testing and professional inspections to ensure optimal operation 24/7.
“How do I know the fire alarm is actually functional and won't go off accidentally at 3:00 AM, or fail to wake me up in a real emergency?”
Our fire alarm systems are designed to balance maximum safety with peace of mind. You are protected by commercial-grade, multi-sensor detection systems that actively prevent false alarms while guaranteeing immediate notification if real smoke or heat is detected.
Here is how we maintain a safe, disruption-free environment:
Tampering with or covering room smoke detectors carries an immediate €200 fine and removal from the property.
Unwarranted alarms caused by prohibited room smoking incur direct fire department call-out charges. This strict policy guarantees our sensors remain 100% operational across all rooms.
Audible & Visual Alerts: In the event of an alarm, loud high-decibel sounders immediately alert every room, while emergency lighting automatically illuminates all exit corridors and stairwells. Automated & Manual Response: The moment a sensor is triggered, our 24/7 front desk team receives the precise location on the central fire control panel to verify the signal and facilitate swift, orderly evacuation procedures alongside local emergency services
“I am a very heavy sleeper or hard of hearing. Will the fire alarm be noticeable enough to wake me up immediately?
”Yes. The sounders installed inside individual guest rooms emit high-decibel emergency signals specifically engineered to break through deep sleep. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, please notify our front desk upon check-in. We will register your room number on our priority alert system and can provide additional assistance or tailored evacuation support during an emergency.
“Will my children be frightened by false alarms, or is the evacuation route safe and easy to navigate with toddlers?
”False alarms are extremely rare due to our strict house rules regarding indoor smoking and cooking appliances. Should an evacuation ever be necessary, all emergency exits are wide, clearly marked with illuminated signs, free of obstructions, and completely separate from main guest elevators (which automatically lock for safety during an alarm).
Our 24/7 staff is trained to manage evacuations calmly to keep young families safe and reassured.
Yes, all public and common areas across XO Hotels properties—including entrances, reception lobbies, hallways, elevator areas, and parking facilities—are monitored 24/7 by closed-circuit television (CCTV) security cameras. Camera footage is continuously recorded and securely managed in strict compliance with Dutch privacy regulations (GDPR) to ensure guest safety, secure premises, and deter unauthorized access. No cameras are ever installed inside guest rooms, bathrooms, or private spaces.
“You have security cameras everywhere. Does this mean my privacy is being invaded, or that the hotel neighborhood is unsafe?”
No. Our CCTV monitoring is strictly designed to protect your personal safety and privacy, not compromise it.
Here is how we balance robust security with complete privacy:
Strict Privacy Compliance (GDPR): Video recordings are securely stored and accessible only by authorized hotel managers or law enforcement under strict legal requests. Footage is automatically overwritten after a standard legal retention period and is never shared, streamed, or monitored for casual viewing.
Cameras are strictly limited to shared, public transit areas. Your guest room, bathroom, and private corridors are completely free of monitoring, giving you total personal privacy.
Proactive Security Standard: Having visible, active CCTV is a modern safety standard in prime urban locations. Combined with keycard-only access after hours and 24/7 front desk staffing, our security cameras ensure that uninvited visitors or unauthorized persons cannot wander onto guest floors undetected.
3. Persona-Specific Concern Questions
For Solo Travelers & Late Arrivals:
“I am traveling alone or returning to the hotel late at night. How does CCTV keep me safe when walking through common areas?”
Our front desk team operates 24/7 with live monitoring screens located behind reception. If you enter the hotel late at night, our staff actively monitors the entrance and public hallways to ensure only registered guests access the building. In addition, all main entrance doors require active guest keycards or staff verification for late-night entry.
For Guests Leaving Valuables in Luggage Storage or Parking:
“If my belongings or vehicle are damaged or stolen while on hotel premises, will CCTV footage be used to help me?”
Yes. Our luggage storage areas and hotel parking facilities are situated within high-definition CCTV coverage zones. In the rare event of damage, misplaced items, or an incident involving your property, our management team will review timestamped footage immediately to assist you and provide official video evidence directly to local police authorities for formal investigations.
Official electronic communication from XO Hotels will always come directly from legitimate domain email addresses ending in @xohotels.com or from the hotel it self:
@xohotelsparkwest.com, @xohotelscouture.com, hotellevell.nl, @hotelvangogh.nl, @innerhotel.nl, @artemisamsterdam.com, @xohotelsbluetower.com, @xohotelsbluesquare.com
@xohotelscitycentre.com, @xohotelsinfinity.com
XO Hotels will not send whatsapp messages. Additionally, XO Hotels will never ask you to transfer funds to personal bank accounts or request full credit card details (including CVC/CVV security codes) via unencrypted chat, text messages, or direct email links.
“With online booking scams and phishing on the rise, how can I be 100% sure a message or payment link claiming to be from XO Hotels is safe and legitimate?”
We understand that receiving payment links or verification requests can raise immediate safety concerns, and protecting your financial security and personal data is our top priority.
XO Hotels uses strict security standards to protect all guest transactions. To verify that any message you receive is authentic, keep these red flags and security checks in mind:
Email Domains: Always double-check the sender's exact email address for subtle misspellings (e.g., @xo-hotels.com or @xohotel-support.com are fake).
Payment Links: Any official pre-payment or registration link generated by XO Hotels directs exclusively to our secure, SSL-encrypted domain (xohotels.com) or trusted payment gateways (Paybylink, paybylink.com ).
Information Requests: XO Hotels staff will never ask for your full 16-digit credit card number, CVV/CVC code, or PIN over regular email, WhatsApp, or phone.
If you ever receive a suspicious email, text message, or payment request, do not click any links or share payment details. Contact our reception or reservations team directly using the verified contact details on xohotels.com or reply within your official booking portal (e.g., Booking.com app) to confirm authenticity.
“I received a message inside my Booking.com or Expedia app asking for payment verification. Is this really from XO Hotels?”
Messages sent through your official OTA account messaging center are linked directly to your reservation. However, if a message asks you to follow an external link to enter credit card details immediately under threat of cancellation, verify it first by contacting the hotel reception directly before entering any sensitive financial data.
“How do I know if an email asking me to complete online check-in before arrival is authentic?”
Official pre-arrival check-in invitations are sent from info@xohotels.com or from the above mentioned domains and link directly to the secure online check-in portal hosted on xohotels.com.
For any questions, requests, or concerns regarding your personal data, privacy rights, or GDPR compliance at XO Hotels, you can contact our central Data Protection/Privacy team by emailing info@xohotels.com with the subject line "GDPR / Privacy Request." You can also review our full, transparent Privacy Statement anytime directly on our website at xohotels.com.
“How does XO Hotels use my personal and payment details, and can I request that my personal data be deleted after my stay?”

XO Hotels processes all guest information strictly in compliance with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) laws. Your data is used exclusively to facilitate your reservation, process secure payments, meet mandatory Dutch local administration/tax registration laws, and ensure guest safety. We never sell or transfer your personal data to third parties for independent marketing purposes.
Under GDPR regulations, you have full legal rights to:
Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Update or correct inaccurate personal details.
Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request the complete deletion of your personal profile and data once mandatory legal tax retainment periods (such as Dutch financial record-keeping laws) have elapsed.
To submit a formal data request, simply send an email to privacy@xohotels.com, and our team will process your request within official statutory timelines.
“I stayed at XO Hotels previously and want my personal records deleted or to stop receiving newsletter emails. How do I do this?”

“Is my ID copy and payment information stored securely when I complete online check-in?”

We love hearing from our guests! You can share your feedback, suggestions, or compliments in several ways:
During your stay: Speak directly to our 24/7 front desk team or drop a message via our reception email so we can pass your compliment to the team in real time.
After your stay: Reply directly to your post-stay feedback email sent to your inbox, send an email to info@xohotels.com, or leave an online review on platforms like Trustpilot or Google.
“If I take the time to submit feedback or praise a specific staff member, will anyone actually read it, or does it just go into an automated system?”
We know how disappointing it can be to submit feedback only to feel like it disappears into a black hole.
At XO Hotels, guest feedback via mail, Google or Trustpilot is actively reviewed by our management team every single day. Positive comments and specific staff shout-outs are celebrated internally and shared directly with the employees involved—it is one of the greatest motivators for our team!
Likewise, constructive suggestions directly shape our operational improvements, from room amenities to breakfast offerings. Whether you send a quick email, fill out our post-stay guest survey, or leave a public review, your comments are personally read, valued, and acted upon.
“A receptionist went above and beyond for me. How can I make sure their manager knows about it?”
You can name the staff member directly in your online review or send an email to info@xohotels.com mentioning the hotel location and employee's name. Our management team personally highlights guest praise during team meetings and internal recognition programs!
“I have a practical suggestion to improve the room layout or check-in process. What is the best channel to send this?”
Please email your ideas directly to info@xohotels.com or complete the private post-stay survey sent to your email after check-out. These direct messages go straight to our operations managers, who use guest recommendations to refine hotel services and facilities.
If your question is not answered in our FAQ, our team is always here to help you directly. You can reach out to XO Hotels through the following official channels:
Email: Contact our central support team at info@xohotels.com (we aim to respond within 24 hours).
Direct Call: Contact your specific hotel location via phone (contact details and phone numbers are listed on the individual hotel page on xohotels.com).
In-Person / Live Stay: If you are already at the hotel, visit our front desk reception desk—our team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
OTA Bookings: If your query relates to payment or booking modifications for a reservation made via Booking.com, Expedia, etc, you can also send a direct message through your booking portal app.
“If I have an urgent or unique question before booking or arriving, will my email go unanswered, leaving me stranded without help?”
We understand how nerve-wracking it can be when you have a time-sensitive question about your upcoming travel, and nobody wants to be left waiting endlessly for a reply.
We prioritize fast, accessible communication across multiple channels. For instant help, our front desk telephone lines operate 24/7. If you send an email or inquiry through our website contact form, our team monitors messages continuously and typically replies within 24 hours (or much faster during regular business hours).
If your inquiry relates to an active reservation arriving within 48 hours, we recommend contacting the hotel front desk directly via phone for immediate assistance!
“I have a complex request before making a booking on xohotels.com. What is the fastest way to get a quick confirmation?”
Send an email to info@xohotels.com or send a mail to the specific XO Hotel location you plan to visit. Our reservations team will review your request and confirm details promptly before you book.
“I am currently in my room and have an urgent question. Do I need to walk down to reception?”
Not at all! You can call the front desk directly using your in-room telephone using the phone number printed on your keycard holder. Our team is on standby 24/7 to assist you immediately.
No, XO Hotels cannot sign for any mail, parcel, or courier deliveries on behalf of guests. However, if a delivery does not require a signature, our front desk team can accept and hold it for you during your stay, provided space is available. Please note that storage space at reception is limited, and the hotel cannot accept legal liability for lost or damaged parcels.
“I am ordering an item online to the hotel. Will my package be turned away if reception doesn't sign for it, and is it safe to have items sent there?”
We understand how important it is to receive necessary items, lost luggage replacements, or online orders while traveling away from home.
To protect guest privacy and prevent legal disputes, our staff is strictly prohibited from signing official delivery receipts or taking financial liability for third-party shipments.
If your courier delivers a package that does not require a signature, our front desk staff will gladly receive it and hold it in our storage area until you return to the hotel. Because room in our luggage and holding areas is limited, we kindly ask that you ensure packages are scheduled to arrive during your actual stay dates rather than days in advance. For high-value items or packages requiring a signed receipt, we strongly advise using a local carrier pickup point (such as a PostNL, DHL, or Amazon Locker) near the hotel.
“My delivery does not require a signature. What details should I include on the shipping label so reception knows it’s mine?”
Always list the full name matching your hotel reservation, along with "XO Hotels - [Hotel Location Name]" and your booking reference number (and arrival date if possible) on the delivery address line. This ensures our reception team can identify your parcel immediately upon arrival.
“What happens if my courier requires a mandatory recipient signature upon drop-off?”
Couriers will be unable to complete delivery at reception if a signature is mandatory, as staff cannot sign on your behalf. In these cases, we recommend redirecting the delivery to a nearby official carrier pickup point (such as a PostNL or DHL ServicePoint) where you can sign and collect it personally with your ID.
Please note: we will never ask you via email, text message or WhatsApp to (re-)confirm your booking or provide additional details.
