Almost Christmas time

Unbelievable, we are reaching the end of the year again, which means that …….

The time to get dressed up, Christmas movies appear on television and you hopefully get a well-stocked Christmas package from your employer. Together with your children you will prepare Christmas decorations, to be placed on the table during Christmas, while you still wanted to buy those beautiful Christmas napkins! On Christmas Eve you smell the freshly baked buns and after breakfast you can start to unpack the presents lying under the Christmas tree.

The time you can put the Christmas tree in your living room, decorated with the most beautiful items; Christmas balls, garlands, lights or candles, angels and do not forget the topper!

The time to look forward to the Christmas activities that are taking place in Amsterdam. On the Dam there will be a big Christmas tree in front of the Royal Palace, with over 40,000 lights in it. The Bijenkorf shopping centre begins the festive month with the annual event Turn on the Lights (16th November from 19:00 to 22:00), turning thousands of lights on the facade simultaneously. You can also enjoy acrobatics, music and at the end there is a spectacular fireworks show.

In addition to this event, there are also other events. These can be found for instance at the Museumplein: The Ice village. In addition to a skating rink for skating, there is a small village with all kinds of fun stalls where you can buy your special Christmas gifts, enjoy delicacies to warm yourself up (fresh pea soup with sausage and bread called Erwtensoep, hot chocolate milk and glühwein ) and you can listen to live music!
And the biggest addition this year is the Winterparade at the Rai Amsterdam from 21 December to 1 January. Skating, glühwine, a ferris wheel, massages, a beer garden and dance parties; all is present to have the most wonderful winter in Amsterdam!

The time to not only to look forward to the nice things during the Christmas period, but also to the Amsterdam Light Festival. From the beginning of December until the end of January the Amsterdam Light Festival will be held! Throughout the center of Amsterdam you will see all kind of light sculptures. Don’t you like walking? Special evening canal cruises are organized. Please note that reservations are advisable!

The time you hope it is going to be a true Christmas this year. Hoping that this year, snowball fighting and making a giant snowman will be possible.

Do you already have the Christmas feeling?
